Can I switch hospitals to King's - or is it too late?

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and am currently receiving my antenatal care through Lewisham & Greenwich. It's been fine so far, but I would really like to give birth at King's rather than Lewisham/QE. I had my last child at King's and just feel really comfortable there.

On the King's website you can apply to have your baby there, but the application includes all antenatal care as well. However, I've already been assigned a midwife through Lewisham and Greenwich and have had a booking in appointment with her and a 12 week scan.

Given this, is it too late to switch hospitals to King's - and if I do, will I also be assigned a King's-based midwife for the rest of my pregnancy? I'd be happy to stick with my current L&G midwife and just have the baby at King's, but I'm not sure that is possible.

Thanks.

Hello - I recently swapped from Kings to St Thomas’s at 26 weeks with no problem, so you should be fine. I visited my GP who to request it - she wrote to St Thomas’s to make arrangements. I did end up having to have another booking in appointment with new midwives but it was far quicker than the first.

Yup you can switch whenever you like. The day before your due if you want!

Its called a transfer of care - just phone the place you want your care to be at and they'll advise you
