It's been a madly busy couple of weeks, mainly due to illness in my DD and ridonkulous amounts of work and family commitments.

Just been delayed on school run after being asked for a chat by the headteacher.

Appointments at 10.20 - it looks like stig of the dump down there, grooming has been way down the list. I can't remember what happens at these things, are they going to be going near my bits?

It's first appt this time round

No.

But even if they did, it r ally doesn't matter if u choose to topiarise

They won't be shocked

Nanmumandmidwife · 22/10/2019 09:25

No, it’s all chat, a urine sample and blood test. Anyway - as a midwife I am not the slightest bit bothered by whether you have “trimmed” or more or prefer completely natural!!

TheJoxter · 22/10/2019 09:31

I don’t think you get your ‘bits’ out at any appointment unless you’re having a transvaginal ultrasound (only done if needed, not in all pregnancies), if you’re having a sweep, or if you’re in labour and they want to check how dilated you are. Possibly also for some other possible complications. I’ve had two pregnancies and only got my bits out when I had a sweep at 5 days overdue with my second. Never did in the post natal check ups either because my stitches felt fine.

20viona · 22/10/2019 09:34

No you do not lol.

GatoFofo · 22/10/2019 09:37

No. I got through the whole of one of my pregnancies without ever having to be examined down there. First anyone saw was mid-labour.
Plenty of time for you to plan your topiary Grin

greeentopmilk · 22/10/2019 09:37

Nope.

You shouldn't need to unless you have a TV ultrasound, or at the end if you choose to have a sweep.

Passthecherrycoke · 22/10/2019 09:40

No. No one looked at my bits until I was giving birth

DontCallMeDaisy · 22/10/2019 09:43

Thank you all - was a daft question! It's just a possibility that dawned on me as I was driving back and I couldn't remember! I know the midwife wouldn't be bothered, but I would. I don't exactly vajazzle, far from it, but it does get wild down there if I don't groom. Not just untidy, WILD! Grin BlushGrin

I haven't need to for the midwife and I am currently 20 weeks. Other than the blood test and urine tests, the closest my midwife has gotten to that part of me is that in my 16 week appointment she used a probe to listen to the heartbeat, so I had to expose my stomach and no further.

The only times so far that anyone has been down to those parts of me are for internal scans, but I only had the first as I am an IVF pregnancy and the others due to bleeding early on.

bobstersmum · 22/10/2019 09:52

What could they possibly tell by looking at your bits at this early stage? Lol

DontCallMeDaisy · 22/10/2019 09:57

@bobstersmum Grin hahaha! I have no idea, there is no rational filter on thoughts running through my head at this moment in time!

I'm strangely giddy and nervous about this. Last time I did this I was 28, fit and mentally prepared! This time I'm 37, fat and have been completely thrown by this BFP. For all I know they could easily think... Crikey woman, we'd better have a look at those bits! Grin

😂

BTW I am not laughing at you, I had no idea what to expect either. I always wear my best (and now biggest) knickers too and this is second pregnancy 28 weeks along.

I just loved your comment 'crikey we'd better look at those bits'. Bless you. Goodluck with your pregnancy OP x

GrumpyHoonMain · 22/10/2019 10:06

I stopped trimming after my booking in appointment as the mw told me that pubic hair helps the vagina grow good bacteria for the baby. Not sure how true it is but makes me feel less stressed / nervous as I don’t have to think about trimming an area I can no longer see lol

Loopyloopy · 22/10/2019 10:07

Trust me, no one even notices landscaping!

SinkGirl · 22/10/2019 10:09

I almost managed to have twins without anyone looking at my area at all, despite frequent appointments - I had a swab taken a couple of hours before my emcs, and they had to shave the top bit of my pubic hair in theatre. That’s it.

BigFatLiar · 22/10/2019 10:12

When I first read the question I was wondering what the appointment was for. It seemed a bit extreme for the hairdresser or a travel agent. Doctors/nurse/midwife perhaps but I suspect they won't be bothered too much by your state.

Depending on your hairdresser/travel agent etc it might make their day a bit different as well.

PixieDustt · 22/10/2019 10:17

No 😂

No one saw my bits until I was in labour with DS!

MerryDeath · 22/10/2019 10:17

no and no one would care anyway!

Phoebesgift · 22/10/2019 10:25

Of course not. What would they be looking for/at??

SinkGirl · 22/10/2019 11:34

To be fair if you watch anything American where they’re seeing an OBGYN they’re in a gown and being examined. It’s standard there (all pregnant women see them rather than midwives) so I understand why women expect it.

bobstersmum · 25/10/2019 18:33

How did it go op?
