12 weeks pregnant picked up a take away coffee cup and the lid popped off scalding my arm freshly boiled water no milk or cooling.

Ran under water for a good 20mins it's red but not blistered firsty can this harm the baby and secondly do I need to seek medical attention if there is no blister etc thanks.

There’s no risk to the baby so but your mind to rest in respect to that.

Where is the burn? How big?

sazzle27 · 19/10/2019 19:42

No it won't harm baby...

Keep running it under cold water - it will keep burning for a while.

Depends on how big it is really, area wise.. but If it is just red then no medical attention required.. if it blisters then possibly but..again.. depends.

Hard to help over the internet with no photo

Thanks for the replies. The burn in on my wrist and thumb not huge but not a little splash. It's been an hour since it happened and no sign of blister just redness and stings.

From the NHS site...

You should go to a hospital A&E department for:

all chemical and electrical burns
large or deep burns – any burn bigger than the injured person's hand
burns that cause white or charred skin – any size
burns on the face, hands, arms, feet, legs or genitals that cause blisters

It sounds like you’re ok to wait.

Put it back under the water for a bit as it could still be burning under the skin if it hurts a lot. I badly scalded both my hands at 36 weeks. Your skin is slightly more sensitive but baby is not in any danger at all. Blisters take a few hours to form. If you get them go to A&E for an initial dressing

If the total area is larger than the palm of your hand then go right away!
