No relief with inhalers for asthma at 27 weeks what's next

Any others struggle with asthma? I am newly diagnosed, was out of breathe from around 19 weeks and bloods flagged for d dimer. Pulmonary embolism was ruled out so breathlessness was put down to asthma. I have been on inhalers and extra iron for 6 weeks which have done nothing. Flow rate yesterday has not changed. I am breathless talking, walking, lifting, anything. Dr's are baffled why inhalers haven't worked, I had bloods taken again yesterday and am now waiting for doctor to call with next steps.

Did anyone else go through similar? I am concerned she said I may have hosp tests repeated e.g. Xray, VQ scan as these carry risks to the baby. Ive had them once so can't believe they will show anything this time.

Hi @7to25 that's really sweet of you thank you. I'm still waiting for the letter to see the cardiology consultant. Its been a week so I am getting abit anxious now. I've had a bad cough/chest infection this week, very mucousy, so maybe it was a good thing it's been delayed though?

Well best of luck. I hope your chest infection was the cause of your breathlessness and feeling rotten and that all is well otherwise.

Not personally. But my DP has really bad asthma. It started mildly and thought it went as a child. About 6 years ago it stared with a tight chest and got worse to the point his lips were even blue. The doctors were fobbing him off and told him to carry on with the blue inhaler Halloween Hmm.
He was in and out of hospital for 2 years with one visit nearly being put in an induced coma!
This is not to scare you I'm just trying to build a background on it. Eventually he got put on these asthma tablets and steroids. He has only just come off the steroids (on them for too long imho!) but (touch a thousands pieces of wood) the asthma tablet has worked brilliantly! He also takes 3 different inhalers a day.
Ask about the tablet and different inhalers available for you. The blue one doesn't to much for him but the other 2 help a lot!

I do think now the chest infection is passing I feel alot better but still cannot do the morning routine or lay down at night without needing to use the blue reliever. I'm hoping the letter finally comes today as opposed to me having to chase it up.. But I am due back to work soon and I was signed off while they were trying to resolve it. I cant bear the thought of going back to work, unless I have been given the all clear. I would certainly need adjustments as I don't think I would make it up the stairs to the building

Hi OP! How did you manage your asthma symptoms at the time? I'm in the very similar situation right now. VQ scan didn't show any abnormalities, heart echocardiogramm was fine too. But get very breathless and using fostair 8 times a day and even that isn't enough to cope with getting breathless.
