I'm currently 16+2 and on Maternity leave, I'm due to return to work in January (official end of ML is Nov) but going to pop in and tell them I'm pregnant after my 20 week scan and fill in all the relevant paperwork etc.

I'm planning on only returning to work for 2 weeks and then going straight back onto maternity leave. I know it's not ideal but, I don't see the point of putting current child in childcare for a few months only to then remove them as I'll be off for another year.

I'm getting myself so stressed out with the thought of having to inform them 😔 and I feel really guilty although I know I'm entitled to ML it still feels like I'm taking the P as I've been there such a short period what if they fire me? will they make the 2 weeks as difficult as possible?

Has anyone fallen pregnant on Maternity? how did you broach it with employer and were they supportive?

@csmw Hi, they can't fire you as you are protected due to being pregnant both from being discriminated due to pregnancy and from victimisation due to pregnancy. So they can't fire you or treat you badly when you tell them. People get pregnant on maternity leave quite frequently and even if they are annoyed (while they shouldn't be), at most you have to deal with them for 2 weeks and they will be over it by the time you get back from maternity leave anyway.

I know it's a bit longer but I've been with my employer since 2016. I started in October got pregnant in the May. I went on maternity in January 2017. I was off 13 months and then went back in February this year. I am pregnant and I'm going again at Easter next year so I've probably been off more than I've been in.

They honestly don't care and were glad to have me back. It's really common and they're already used to you not being there.

@LH1987 Thank you I hope so, I'm aiming to go back and hope it wont be too awkward.

@Ftmwhoisclueless sounds like a really supportive employer, with this pregnancy I was practically ignored until I went on ML 😔
