19wks pregnant with a shortened cervix...scared to death

Hello ladies,

At my 17 weeks scan my cervix length was 3.8cm. Considering that I had laser treatment and biopsy 10 years ago I was over the moon when I was told my cervix was fine. Yesterday, 2 weeks later, my cervix had shortened to 2.5cm. I was given 2 options, either cerclage or cyclogest pessaries. Because of slight membranes rupture risk I opted for Cyclogest. Also because I was told by my consultant that Cyclogest and stitch have the same success rates.
Does anyone have experience with Cyclogest progesterone pessaries for short cervix only? Also what dose was prescribed for you? I’m on 400mg once in the evening, and bed rest.
Please help, I’m 42 years old, first time pregnant with a beautiful healthy girl. We saw her only 4 days ago at anomaly scan and everything was perfect. I read lots of success stories with progesterone and /or stitch , but I can’t help but worry and I’m not able to sleep.
My next cervix scan is in a week time and we’ll probably opt for stitch if the cervix shortens. But with this therapy, progesterone and bed rest , I really hope this doesn’t happen. This stitch is so scary for me.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m more and more convinced that a stitch is the best solution.
