Selective reduction with twins

Hi
I know I’ll get judged by this post so I’m just going to ask for straight forward answers to my question.
I’ve just been for a 7 week scan as I had some spotting, everything is fine but they could see two gestational sacs, one has a baby and one is empty. The doctor has said that as I’m so early it could be that the sac will stay empty OR tsecond twin just hadn’t developed enough to be seen yet so I’ve got to go back in two weeks for a rescan to see. I’m absolutely terrified and really hoping that the sac stays empty. There’s no way I can cope with twins, I already have a two year old and I live in a tiny two bed house. This pregnancy was planned but I only wanted one more baby.
Has anyone had this and gone on to find the sac did not develop? And has anyone got any advice or info on selective reduction? Is it even available on the nhs?
Thank you

By 7 weeks if the sac is empty it’s likely to stay empty unless they think you have your dates wrong?

@GrumpyHoonMain sorry I meant to change that- I thought I was 7 weeks they actually confirmed I’m 6 weeks and 3 days. Is it likely to stay empty if you can’t see it by then?

I had a scan at 7 weeks with two sacs and two heart beats but one sac was smaller than the other. They said is was most likely that twin 2 would stop growing. I was rescanned at 10 weeks and twin 2 had grown a bit more but no longer had a heart beat.

I would be incredibly surprised if twin 2 does develop.

Definitely. By 6-7 weeks you should see something in a sac. My guess is that they are just trying to cover their backs in terms of the second appointment - in reality you should be okay.

Sorry for your situation op. I think speculating is very unhelpful. Every pregnancy is different. I would speak to your gp if possible to better understand your situation and your options

I think it will not develop further but stranger things have happened and I think the professionals will be the ones to consult.
