Morning sickness gone from bad to horrendously worse...

Hi ladies

To be honest, i’m mentally feeling a lot stronger than I waa a few weeks ago which is funny considering i’ve gone from bad to worse. The other funny thing is that I woke up this morning feeling fine and usually from the moment i open my eyes im ready to be sick, so I spent around 10 mins this morning thinking ‘thats it, I’ve done it, no more sickess’ and yeah.. turned out to be the worst day yet!! I have been sick 7 times today, usually I am sick 2/3 times of a morning and then i’m ok-ish throughout the day. Today however has been disgusting! I just went to the bathroom and was sick again which never happens in the evenings.

I don’t really know what I am asking but.. is there like a ‘peak’ for morning sickness? Will it go back to just being a few times of a morning?

I feel so sick. All the time.. :(

Sorry you're suffering so much!

I didn't actually vomit as much as you have been, but certainly felt horrendous the whole day for weeks. I think week 8 or 9 were the worst, but it had then all gone by week 11.

How far along are you?

I found that near constant tiny sipping of water helped through the day and evening. Eating something really plain as soon as I woke up, before even sitting up, such as half a plain rice cake, even if I didn't feel hungry it just helped put something other than bile in my stomach before moving around.

I'm now 23 weeks and it feels a lifetime ago - it does get better!!

It sounds like you have hyperemisis. Have you heard of that? You should talk to your GP about it. It makes sense that you have a constant headache- I'd you're getting sick that much you're probably very dehydrated

If i’m being honest I am probably in denial.. I am very sick! I’m so weak, so tired, very thirsty and probably should go to the doctor, but I am absolutely petrified of ending up in hospital. It sounds ridiculous doesn’t it, but I just have a thing about hospitals! I have heard of HG, but from what i’ve read most ladies end up being hospitalized with it? :( I am just going to try my absolute best to drink as much as I can tonight and tomorrow, if I still feel really weak then I will go to see my doctor. I am 8 weeks, i’ really hoping I only have a few more weeks if this left.. it’s absolutely horrendous xx

the headache sounds like you are dehydrated. I was being sick around 4-6 times a day, had an aversion to liquids. Spoke with the midwife who asked whether I was able to keep food down. As I could she said make sure you each foods high in water content. I was chomping on watermelon, grapes, satsumas etc. This helped with the dehydration but not the sickness sadly. Worst weeks was from 8-10 but didn't subside until around week 18 for me. Talk to your GP as you can get anti sickness tablets if it's affecting your ability to function.

@LL308 I was just like you and thought I'd had the worst of it... week 8-9 i was exactly like you and couldn't keep anything down whatsoever, I was so exhausted I would just break down and had horrible headaches too - it did start to ease off again though after around week 13 I think? I'm 15 weeks now and I still throw up maybe once/twice a day but I promise you it does get better!! If you think it's hyperemesis then it's definitely worth getting checked out to make sure you're not dehydrated. FWIW, I lost a stone in my first trimester but baby has grown more than well enough (I was worried I wasn't giving it what it needed) and I'm still having headaches - they don't differ regardless of whether I've drank a lot or very little, I think it's just a pregnancy thing 😂

I didn't get a 'peak' but just felt worse and worse - got a GP appointment, asked for help and was prescribed an anti-sickness tablet which made a tremendous difference.

I still felt nauseous and had the odd vomit, but it kept a lid on things enough for me to get back to work and feel human again. I found I didn't need the tablets from about 14/15 weeks - much longer than I anticipated, so glad I got help!

Good luck, I know it's bloody awful x

Get to the gp asap. No you won't be hospitalised. You will be prescribed medication to help control it. If the one you try first doesn't work they will give you another to try. Seriously just get seen, you are putting yourself and baby at risk by avoiding getting medical attention.

I had HG - was sick multiple times a day, even waking up at night to be sick. It is horrible. This was a while ago and no-one suggested drugs - GP just signed me off work for 3 months!

When I had my second, I started the same way, but luckily hte GP was happy to give me medication (a life saver with an active toddler to look after!).

Definitely go to your GP. The headaches sound like you are already dehydrated, so you really need some help. There are several types of medication, so if one doesn't work, keep going back.
