Have I overdone it on holiday? Worried

I went on a 12 mile walk yesterday on holiday. By the end my feet and legs were really aching and I have mild back ache in my lower back. I’m 11 weeks pregnant and am worried that I’ve done something wrong - it’s the back ache that’s especially concerning me. I don’t have a bath where I’m staying - only a shower - so can’t take a long hot soak unfortunately. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks. Does the back ache mean there could be something wrong with the baby? I’m freaking out a bit as this is the first time I’ve had it during pregnancy.

I don’t think you need to worry, it’s probably just your legs feet and back are tired, especially if you don’t normally walk a lot! I know it’s not ideal to over do it, but it doesn’t sound like you need to be too concerned. If you are super worried you could visit a doctor but I know it’s not ideal on holidays! I’d say the aches and pains will go in two or three days for you. If it’s anything I still get very sore after walking and I was super fit before pregnancy! The main thing is keeping hydrated and not letting yourself get too warm if you are exercising! It’s horrible when you get a fright though! Try to enjoy your holiday I think you and baby will be ok❤️

Thanks. I’ve read on the NHS website that backache is very common during early pregnancy but I can’t help worrying!

I climbed snowdon at 10 weeks, first time ever, I enjoy walking and stupidly underestimated how hard it would be. For a few days after everywhere was aching, my back , my tummy etc. My back was the worst though. I think it was because my body wasn’t used to that sort of exercise. All was fine though! Try not to worry.

your hormones are making everything go stretchy, walking won't have affected the baby. I had really bad lower back ache from about 8-14 weeks.

Thanks everyone. My back has now stopped aching so I’m feeling less worried today! I’ve walked those kinds of distances pre-pregnancy with no back problems, but I guess my body is changing.
