I'm currently approaching 37 weeks and a month or so ago was diagnosed with GD.
I'm currently on 4 metformin a day and on Thursday was put onto insulin as my fasting levels are always too high. Results so far are still hit and miss.
I met with the consultant at 35 weeks. Measurement of my bump put me at 39 weeks - I've always been measuring 2 weeks ahead now measuring 4 ahead but they said they weren't worried.
Last NHS scan was at 32 weeks and they said I was bang on 50th percentile but had slightly higher than desired fluid levels - this was all triggered by a private scan with better equipment which showed baby was measuring big.
At last consultant appointment I expected to be given an induction date but his view was I should be fine to be left to go naturally.
I have another scan this week and am now a bit anxious about their lack of intervention/plan.
My last baby was a week early and started with waters spontaneously going which poses a risk of cord prolapse where there is excess fluid. She was also on the 96th percentile so this baby could be bigger.
The advise from my mw and diabetes nurse was to cry and beg for induction but surely I shouldn't have too? The norm in most cases similar to mine seems to be induction at 38 weeks. I'm all for taking the advice of the professionals but I'm wondering if I do need to take a stand and push for induction as I just feel like they are not interested and advice from different medical staff has varied so I'm not sure who is right. Surely a mw would only encourage me to push for induction if it is the right thing and if it is why does the consultant seem reluctant.
Appreciate if anyone with similar experiences could share their outcomes!
