Measuring big

During my midwife appointment today, I was told that I am measuring at 33 weeks (When I’m actually 29 weeks tomorrow) because of this I’ve been booked in for an emergency scan along with a blood test to make sure everything is okay. Although big babies run in the family and we’re hoping this is the cause, we can’t help but to be worried. Can anyone share their advice and maybe discuss the possible causes of me measuring sever weeks ahead? I was told that they’ll be testing for gestational diabetes and checking my amniotic fluid levels which are potential causes.

I also measured on the larger side especially towards the end, my baby was a healthy 8lb12oz! Your bump is completely personal to you, your amount of waters, and size of placenta are different to everyone else’s, big bump doesn’t always mean big baby, unless the scan picks something up I really wouldn’t worry!

At 28 weeks I was measuring 31, and now at 31 I am measuring 38! I had a private scan at 27 weeks which showed I had a lot amniotic fluid (borderline polyhydramnious) so had a GTT test done at 28 weeks and a scan on NHS and everything came back ok. Baby is on the 95th centile. I have another growth this week - but it was me who pushed for it, the midwife didn't seem concerned. She just told me that we already knew the baby was big and that I was only going to get bigger!

This is my second baby, and my first son was born at 37+5 and weighed 7lb 2oz and I was also really big in that pregnancy and when my waters went there was so much fluid! So I am thinking I just carry big babies. I am booked in for a ECS at 39 weeks this time but the more time goes by the more I think it's unlikely that I will get to 39 weeks!

Midwife measurements can be innaccurate, Id wait for scan results

I was measuring big at my 29 week midwife appointment at the start of the week. Was sent for a growth scan yesterday and according ti the scan the baby is measuring at below 30th centile and the fluid levels are fine. They couldn't find a reason for my bump being big and suggested the measurement from my midwife may not have been accurate.
I also had the gtt last week due to family history and that was clear

Hey I'm in same situation I'm 25 weeks now but at my midwife appointment a few days ago at 24+4 I was measuring 28 weeks. Shes booked me in for a scan for tomorrow to check baby and of course I also have GTT tomorrow too. My last baby was 9lb 8oz so I'm not expecting a smaller baby but they have to double check everything just incase. Try not worry yourself you could just be carrying more fluid than others or baby could of been lay in an awkward way x

I measured absolutely gigantic and then had a 6lb 7oz tiddler! I’m size 10/12 and fit normally so I’ve got no idea what was in the bump (waters were on the low side so it wasn’t that). Some people just get big bumps.

I’m always so surprised by these growth scans etc booked based purely in the MW fundal height measurements. I’ve been measuring 110th centile plus from 26w and no one has suggested that I’m carrying a mahoosive baby, much less are they concerned about it.
If you had other symptoms to suggest that you might have GD or any other health issue then it might be worth the resources, but it seems a bit over cautious for an otherwise healthy pregnancy. Fundal height measuremts are notoriously inaccurate!
