7+3 and no nausea or vomiting

Hi all,

I’m a first-timer on Mumsnet and looking for a bit of reassurance.

I’m 7+3 and have had no nausea or vomiting symptoms yet. I wasn’t worried about this until today when the “Expecting Better” book by Emily Oster suggested women without these symptoms are at higher risk of miscarriage.

I had a MMC 12 years ago (age 20) at around 7 weeks so I’m now panicking I could be in for a repeat of last time. I was too young then, at university and not in the right relationship, so in some ways I always felt it was a blessing in disguise, but obviously life very different now married at 32 and desperately want this to work out.

I guess I’m hoping there are others out there who have similar experiences (or lack of symptoms) and gone on to have healthy babies.

(Sorry for the long post!!)

X

Hey, try not to worry, I had a mmc at 11 weeks (first pregnancy) so I know it's easier said than done, but I had no symptoms with my first child until much later (and even then it was only sore boobs), and this time around only very mild nausea and I'm now 14 weeks. It can be normal not to experience these symptoms. Hope all goes well :-)

There's no reason why you have to have sickness to have a healthy pregnancy. I had absolutely zero symptoms throughout and my daughter is 3 months old. Enjoy it.

Hi- i am 7+4 and have had about 2 weeks of feeling sick/ tired but last few days that has just stopped. So I know how you feel about it.
But I am sure with both of my girls pregnancies I felt fine with one and only slightly nauseas with the other.

I don’t think there is really a rule book to be honest. Every women with every pregnancy can be different.

OP try not and worry and don't read too many books or do too much googling and just try and relax. I've had three pregnancies, two with no symptoms and felt great and those pregnancies gave me two healthy beautiful children. My second pregnancy, during which I felt awful, ended in a miscarriage so I don't think there is a real rhyme or reason to it.

Sending you a hug.

Some people don’t have any nausea/sickness. I haven’t felt sick once the whole pregnancy and I’m due today so it really doesn’t mean anything.

Passthecherrycoke · 12/10/2019 09:04

It’s fine. Whilst it’s true sickness is caused by the pregnancy hormone you can have more than enough hormone and not feel sick. I had one pregnancy with none and one with Both healthy

Happy due date Lisa

I breezed through my first trimester, like you, read up that having sickness early on can be signs of a healthier pregnancy, well it's rubbish. I'm 16+6 with my first, unfortunately I have just started getting late onset of sickness and it's been terrible! Everyone is different, don't worry! If you're really concerned just call your midwife department, it's what they are there for. X

Don't be silly !!!
I wasn't sick at all with my first didn't have a single pregnancy symptom or ache or pain but pregnancy number 2 wrote me off with heart burn, cramps, sickness, shakes, pains in my hips, everything I had !!! Number 3 isn't as bad but I'm now getting the heart burn at 7 months! The things I'd do to have my first pregnancy again. Each one is different believe me xx

Boymummy3 · 12/10/2019 17:48

I didn't have no symptoms at all with my first until later on in pregnancy then I got heartburn. I've never heard that no symptoms mean possible mc tbh I wouldn't worry yourself about it xx
