I'm waiting for the 2nd set of bloods for my 2nd GTT. I was referred for it because baby has had a big jump in size and is now right on the line for the higher end of 'normal' (97th centile at 32 weeks) and I had glucose in the wee test.

No symptoms other than baby size and wee test, but I had the glucose drink about 90 minutes ago and I'm now shaking, feel sweaty, sick and light headed.

So, anyone who's had or has GD, did you have any symptoms before it was confirmed via the blood test?

That could just be the effects of the glucose drink, I've read alot of people end up feeling awfull after having it, I'm sorry I don't have any advise as I'm booked in for mine on monday! Dreading it I hope you feel better soon and get a better answer from someone who's had it done already xx

I didn’t, but then my GTT result was 7.8 which is literally the cut off point for a GD diagnosis, and my baby has measured bang average the whole way through the pregnancy.

I felt like that when I had my GTT test and was diagnosed with GD. Please do not worry too much GD is very easily managed. I've had it since 26 weeks I think it was and I'm now 36 weeks. I'm completely diet controlled. If you have any questions please do ask if you are diagnosed with GD.

I didn’t have any symptoms, I had the GTT due to family history. My result after the glucose drink was 7.9 so just over the limit. I managed fine for a while on diet and exercise but recently started taking medication due to fasting readings creeping up. Try not to worry too much, it’s really not as bad as it first feels when you’re newly diagnosed.

I had zero symptoms, but was a bit overweight so wasn’t entirely surprised! If you do have it, don’t blindly follow the NHS diet advice. Their advice to eat whole meal bread etc didn’t work for me, but cutting out gluten entirely did so I didn’t have to go on any medication.
