Reduced movement 39 weeks - induction?

CharlieSon · 10/10/2019 21:57

This is my second episode of RFM (last one at 28 weeks). Looked fine on the monitor so was sent home. Haven’t had any movement since about 3am last night (am 39 weeks). I’m sure everything is fine and don’t want to look silly reporting it. Would they mention induction do you think? I really don’t want to be induced.

You really need to get checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Switcher88 · 10/10/2019 22:00

As PP said you really should get checked out.

I went in at 39 weeks, but everything looked fine on monitor. They still offered induction but I declined.

Tweetingmagpie · 10/10/2019 22:02

They will probably suggest it but you don’t have to, especially if you’re monitored and everything is fine.

They actually suggest induction once you are at term if you reduced movements once you are term here, even the first time( West Sussex) but it’s your choice.

CharlieSon · 10/10/2019 22:18

Ah okay so I can perhaps decide if they offer it to me. I guess it just depends on how the monitor looks. I’m sure everything is fine but will call and get checked tomorrow if no movement tonight. Feel more anxious about induction than reduced movement for some reason?

If you haven't had any movements since 3am you shouldn't really be waiting until the morning to phone up. You most certainly won't look silly reporting it

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 10/10/2019 22:21

I’m not over cautious as a person but you can’t be blase about reduced movements, even at 39 weeks. You need to go in tonight.

fruitypancake · 10/10/2019 22:25

Go now OP, you really must

inthethickofit19 · 10/10/2019 22:26

Another one saying go now. Read too many sad stories. Never take a chance

Teachermaths · 10/10/2019 22:26

Why are you not at the hospital already? You've had no movements for 12+ hours.

Get yourself to the hospital ASAP.

BarbarAnna · 10/10/2019 22:27

Please concentrate more on the lack of movements versus a possible induction as a result. If you haven’t felt movement in all that time, you really need to get checked out tonight.

Teachermaths · 10/10/2019 22:28

You can refuse induction however it could mean a C section. Go and get checked now!

georgialondon · 10/10/2019 22:29

My London trust induces on the third report of reduced movement after 37 weeks.

ruralcat · 10/10/2019 22:29

You need to phone them now. I was given daily monitoring when I had repeat episodes of reduced movement so induction isn't the only option.

georgialondon · 10/10/2019 22:32

Always go in for reduced movement. It's not worth the risk ignoring it.

Fortheloveofscience · 10/10/2019 22:32

Please go to hospital OP and get checked out. They specifically say not to wait until morning with reduced movement.

Assuming that everything’s ok on the monitor then declining induction is a completely reasonable decision. It will depend on your NHS Trust’s policy: I was referred for a growth scan after second episode of reduced movement and booked in for an induction at 41 weeks after the third - being induced before 40 weeks was never suggested because the monitoring was fine each time.

maryberryslayers · 10/10/2019 22:35

You need to go in, right now. Never mind about induction or anything else, your baby hasn't moved for almost 20 hours.

PixieDustt · 10/10/2019 22:36

OP please go the the hospital you haven't felt movements for nearly 24 hours that is not normal and quite scary.
Forget the induction and go to check baby is okay.
I was induced and honestly I'd do it again.
Please go and get checked

Doryhunky · 10/10/2019 22:36

This is a sad story about reduced movements and late induction at 39 weeks

littlemissalwaystired · 10/10/2019 22:38

Midwife here - PLEASE get checked out tonight. Let them know on the phone that it's not just reduced movements, but no movements. They won't think you're time wasting.

TildaTurnip · 10/10/2019 22:39

I had reduced movements and regularly called. I was induced at 37+1 and very thankful I was.

As everyone has said, don’t hesitate to be checked ASAP. Do not wait until the morning.

European12345 · 10/10/2019 22:44

I went for reduce movements for many weeks , only when they saw reduced ones in the monitor they induced me. You shouldn’t be waiting til tomorrow to go. It’s been nearly 1 day so should get checked.

Amanduh · 10/10/2019 22:57

Why on earth would you be worried about an induction over your baby not moving? If they induced you because things were not looking right, to keep your baby safe, that could only ever be a positive thing. Go.

Lisalou88 · 10/10/2019 23:52

You will not look silly for reporting no movement. I am also 39 weeks and I freak out if I haven’t felt baby move for a few hours so I would defo have called hours ago if I had no movement since 3am.

mistermagpie · 11/10/2019 07:37

I went in for reduced movement at 38+6 and was offered induction. I hope everything is ok for you this morning x
