12 week scan emotions

I have my 12 weeks scan next Monday morning and I know that when I see my little baby on that screen I'm going to cry. Not sure if it's my hormones or the fact of seeing my baby for the first time. But I'm worried that if I do cry I'll look daft.

Has anybody else felt really emotional at their first scan? Is this normal to feel the way I do?

I'm so excited for it just very very emotional at the same time x

Haha don’t worry about it! The sonographer at mine said loads of people cry. It’s an emotional experience! You’re seeing your baby, and for most people it’s the first time seeing them!

I cried a bit at my five, seven, eleven and twelve week scans and a lot at my twenty week scan 😂 and I’m not even a person who cries much or easily!

All the sonographer said to me was "can you hop onto the bed please" and I burst into tears and wanted to go home. 😭 but they were lovely and so understanding xx

Didnt show a single emotion at scans for first pregnancy. Initial scan (at 5 weeks) showed it was twins - too shocked to speak and all the others i was almost too afraid to move / breathe / say anything in case it all went wrong.

2nd pregnancy, 12 week scan, i cried buckets (really ugly crying) for all of it - mainly due to relief it wasnt twins again Grin

Thanks ladies I feel a little better now 🤣🤣

We've watched a video about what happens at the ultrasound and I started filling up at a video of a couple having their ultrasound so don't know what I'll be like at my own!

We've waited 8 weeks for this moment and now my emotions are probably going to take over. But seeing as it's normal to maybe cry I don't feel as bad 🤣 x

I sobbed like a baby!

My first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage (no symptoms) which was discovered at the first scan - so by the time we got to the first scan for our second pregnancy I was pretty much hysterical! I’ve sobbed at every appointment I’ve had since - it can be very overwhelming!

Don’t worry about it :)

Another crier here! Cried at my 7, 9 and 12 week scan. Sonigraphers were all lovely about it. Will likely cry at anomaly scan too! Don’t worry about the tears, you’ll cry over much smaller things over the next 6 month, I promise you!

Good luck and enjoy :)

@Keyboard91 thank you! ❤️

I cried at mine on Monday even though I'd had three previous scans. It was partly the shock of seeing an actual baby when I was so worried it had all gone wrong. I was quite emotional and ready for a while afterwards but so was another lady while we waited for our blood test!
Good luck!

I’ve had three previous mcs.

When she asked me to confirm my name I started sobbing so hard that DH had to translate. I was utterly terrified and then utterly relieved.

I broke down shaking and crying before they'd even started as found at at a previous 12 week scan there was no heartbeat and I think all the emotion and fear came out all at once
