Hi guys,

Dearest OH has taken all my Tupperware to work and lost it/thrown it out/left it in the car growing a new life form.and is too ashamed to admit it.... my money is on the latter!

Anyway - I need to restock. Trying to do this with food prep in mind to freeze stuff before baby arrives. Just wondered if anyone has bought the ikea 365 glass tupperware things?

They say they can go in the over like pyrex but I just wondered if I made food in them and froze it, could they go from the freezer to the over if i put it in whilst preheating?

The other option is the foil takeaway containers for the weeks after birth but they dont seem very eco friendly.

Boring post I know!

Hi I am food prepping at the moment- due early dec. I have used the ikea Tupperware before but think it would be expensive to do for all your food prep. For just general Tupperware I now love stainless steel even though it is expense it’s practically indestructible.

For the food prep I am using large jars eg 2.5kg for liquid thing like soups and sauces, my OH gets them from work at a pub might be worth asking at you local- they are normally had things like gerkins ect and they would just be chucked out. Then for things like pies and lasagna just wrap in tinfoil. Also if you know anybody that has a lot of takeaways those plastic cheapy Tupperware can be good, wouldn’t buy new but better to resuse than chuck.

Also one thing to note with freezing with glass (you probably know this but just in case) leave some room as most things expand when frozen so if it’s too full it will break the glass.

Good luck with your birth.

I’m not entitled to SMP from my full time nhs job due to changing trust but do qualify for mat leave as I have long-standing continuous nhs employment. Would I be able to claim SMP from the nursing agency which I have worked for for as casual work?
Thanks in advance xx

We use the ikea ones and freeze dinners in them. However we tend to pop them in the side to defrost all day then cook once defrosted. We do lots of batch cooking of spag bol, curry, chilli, pie fillings (then shove pastry on top before ovening).

It was expensive as an initial outlay, we now have about 10 trays.

Smaller stuff I had old plastic tupperware for pasta sauce/mash etc.

I buy mine from the pound shop! 4 tubs with lids for a pound, or 2 for a pound if you prefer the clippy lids Smile
