36 weeks and they haven't done it yet

They didn't as a routine when I was pregnant (low risk pregnancies) . You'd need to be measuring plus or minus 3 weeks on the fundus height to flag up any growth issues. You could ask the midwives to guess, some are pretty proud of how accurate they are.

Simonfromharlow · 08/10/2019 17:28

I think it was in the last few weeks. They estimated on the small side and he was...... wait for it....... 11lbs.

loutypips · 08/10/2019 17:37

They gave me a weight of 10lb plus. I had GD so they expected a big baby. When she was born she was tiny and 7lb 8oz.
Had a high risk pregnancy so I think that's why they were keeping check on size.

IamPickleRick · 08/10/2019 17:39

Same as Simon from Harlow. DC2 was about 6lbs more than estimated.

DC3 was about 3lbs more.

Alyssum34456 · 08/10/2019 18:54

Wow so massively inaccurate!

dc3 was estimated to be big for the last 10weeks. She was 5lb7oz. I was expecting a chubby little thing but nope like a little doll, first thing I said was she's so tiny!

maddyy321 · 08/10/2019 19:17

I was very overweight with my first and went for scans every 4 weeks to measure her and then every two weeks as they said she was too small, they took me in a little room and told me how there will be more equipment in the room etc as she's small, I then saw another consultant who said they are putting it against my height and weight and at 6'1 and then 24stone he said they would be expecting a 9/10lb baby which put my mind at rest but then I had others going on about her being small again, when I gave birth she was a very healthy 6lb 11oz she did look a lot smaller around the 5lb mark but she was absolutely fine a bit of a runner bean even now at nearly four but perfectly healthy

mistermagpie · 08/10/2019 19:18

I've had two babies and now 32 weeks with the third. I've never been given an estimated weight at all...

Windydaysuponus · 08/10/2019 19:19

I had weight done at 32 weeks scans.
The old fashioned theory is an ounce a day except Sunday.
Worked for me when guessing!!
Ds at 35 weeks exact and dd's at 40 weeks within 2 ounces of my guess!

joffreyscoffee · 08/10/2019 19:21

They don't give you an estimated weight unless you're specifically going for growth scans.

DD was estimated to be 9lb plus at my 38 week scan, she was 7lb 6oz.

TheRobinIsBobbingAlong · 08/10/2019 19:22

First DD they didn't estimate. Second DD they estimated around 8lb or so. She was 6lb 8oz!

nogooddeedgoesunpunished · 08/10/2019 19:24

I had weekly growth scans from 32 weeks as he was measuring big. Estimated 9 1/2 - 10 lbs . He was 7lb 6oz but very long ! I was later told by the Health Visitor that the growth measurements are notoriously inaccurate

Creas35 · 08/10/2019 19:24

Estimated 9lb and she was 7lb

Latenightreader · 08/10/2019 19:25

I had extra scans from 30 weeks because I was deemed to be high risk (approaching 40, IVF) and they said the baby would be about 9lb 7. I was monitored for gestational diabetes (all clear) and they talked about inducing me early. She was 7lb 12 but very long, and born on her due date!

B00kworm86 · 08/10/2019 19:27

I was measuring pretty big, estimated at around 9lb! I was expecting to give birth to some gigantor baby, he was in fact 6lb 2oz at 5 days overdue. I looked at him and said "That's not my baby!"

limpingparrot · 08/10/2019 19:28

First estimated around 8lb and was 6lb 9oz and second was estimated ‘big’, he was 8lb.
