Can anyone recommend a car which will easily fit 2 car seats and a booster seat?

I forgot to add, the car seats will need to fit in the back. Leaving room for 2 adults in the front

Ford kuga is pretty much the only one I know capable of doing this. But have a look around car shops and take your car seats to try in any cars you like to be sure 😀

We ended up with an S-Max

poorbuthappy · 08/10/2019 12:42

S Max, Galaxy, Touran,
Had all 3. Galaxy most comfortable.

Mitsubishi Outlander can. Mine is the 5 seater, not sure if the 7seater is the same.

S max

TheBrilloPad · 08/10/2019 13:18

My C Max can. Rear facing Britax Max Way, infant maxi cosi pebble & high back booster. It's a tight squeeze getting my hand in to do the seatbelt of the booster up, but it's manageable and only for a few years. Also has massive boot space/two spare seats in the back, plus sliding doors which are great for getting kids in and out of car seats.

Google and see if these is an "In Car safety centre" near to you. They have all different kinds of car seats and will try them out in your car to check what fits safely etc

Thanks everyone! Lots to research 😊

We have a Mitsubishi Outlander 7 seater and you can get the car seats in but it's actually a bit of a pain when all the seats are in use. If your booster seat one is old enough to climb in and strap themselves in it would probably be easier, mine are too young.

I'm looking at a Citroen picssso (or whatever it's called now) for our second car, apparently you can get three car seats in the back of that.

onemouseplace · 08/10/2019 14:14

Second the C-Max - it's a bit of a squeeze as TheBrilloPad says, but we've been really happy with ours and the rear sliding doors (we have the Grand C-Max) are bloody brilliant. It also doesn't feel too big to drive (we had a Galaxy as a courtesy car for a week and while I had all the space in the world to do the seatbelts up, it felt ridiculously large in comparison.

ThePolishWombat · 08/10/2019 20:05

We’ve got a rear-facing Joie Tilt, a forward facing Joie Bold in forward-facing high-back booster mode and a rear-facing maximise cabriofix infant carrier across the back of a Citroen C4 Picasso (the 5-seater, not the Grand 7 seater).
There’s isofix points on all 3 back seat too

ThePolishWombat · 08/10/2019 20:06

maxicosi not maximise Blush

bobstersmum · 08/10/2019 20:22

If the car has not got three full size seats in the back then I was told that insurance will not cover you to put three car seats in.

RandomMess · 08/10/2019 20:33

Citroen C4 Picasso

This is an incredibly morbid post but saw yours and thought it was worth sharing. If possible, put the two baby seats side by side and the booster on the outside.

I lost one of my friends in a car crash in Sweden. She was sat between the two baby/child seats as they were on a long drive and it was easier to keep them happy if she sat in the back too.

Basically the police told her family after that as the baby seats are designed and reinforced to protect what is in them, for her it was the equivalent of being between two brick walls.

Sorry - not pleasant but I thought it was worth sharing as I had never thought about it before :(

LivingMyVestLife · 09/10/2019 17:44

Cherry oh my god we do that all the time on long journeys. Are there any cars in which it would be safe, do you know, or is it always a no-no? I've never heard that before. I'm so sorry about your friend.

trevthecat · 09/10/2019 18:01

I have ford Kuga and you can't put 3 in the back. It's not big enough and against the manufacturer book. Have a look at a multimac. It's a 3/4 seater car seat. Expensive but cheaper than new car. I really want one!!

filka · 09/10/2019 18:13

Ford Galaxy (basically the same as VW Sharan and SEAT Alhambra).

Mine is a few generations old (2003). Available in petrol or diesel.

Three rows of seats - two up front, three individual seats in the middle row and two individual seats in the back so spacious and comfortable for 7 adults. Capacity like a bus but drives like a car.

In my older model each seat can be taken out separately (but they are very heavy), in the newer ones the back row are a bit different and fold flat to the floor.

When the back 2 seats are out, the boot is like a cavern, great for prams, huge amounts of luggage, trips to the dump (fridges, washing machines no problem).

Finally, each seat can be bought with a child seat/booster built in. And there are enough around second-hand to be able to swap an existing ordinary seat for a child seat very cheaply.

Cherry85 · 09/10/2019 18:23

@LivingMyVestLife

Yeah so many of our friends said the same thing when we heard.... especially ones with twins. We are all paranoid about it now! Though, I guess it would be rare.... just worth considering if you can rejig the seats

Mintypea5 · 09/10/2019 21:24

Also check which cars are compatible with your car seats and where in the car. We have the joie 360 and we looked at the booklet that came with it before buying a. Car limited is to a S max, tournan and a few others.
