How to stop hips hurting

Does anyone know?

I'm 24 weeks, first baby. Hips have been getting progressively sorer. Prior to pregnancy I was very active but I haven't been able to continue. My hips hurt if I stay still but I went for a 20 minute walk the other day and they seized up and I could barely move afterwards. I'm pretty fed up. They just hurt all the time now.

I've got a pregnancy pillow, sleeping with it between my knees. Attending pregnancy yoga, that doesn't seem to make a difference either way.

Please can anyone tell me

A) how to make it stop
B) that it goes away after birth?

Sounds like SPD/PGP, basically pelvic pain.

It doesn't really get better, I have it at the moment with DC2 and had it with DC1. I am having physio and hydrotherapy but other than that, nothing can be done - it's more about managing the pain. I have crutches and a support belt and am signed off work as I am in pain all the time.

With DC1 it got better after birth, hoping for the same with DC2.

Sleep on top of a folded duvet,, something really soft for when you're lying in your side. Does it ease during the day? I found walking helped. Warm baths and hot water bottles help too.
If it continues/ worsens talk to your midwife or gp as it may be pelvic pain and need a physio referrals.
I just had general hip pain from about 24 weeks and it went away straight after pregnancy.

Google PGP (pelvic girdle pain) and follow advice - keep knees together when getting out of bed/standing up, try a pregnancy belt, pillow between the knees, etc.

For me it went away after birth in first pregnancy, and has surprisingly got a lot better towards the end of current pregnancy.

Hope you can find something that works for you!
