Help. Panicking they have dated me wrong

Hi all, last minute panic here.
I'm due for induction Sunday tomorrow 6th October.
I'm now panicking that they have dated me wrong and they are inducing me at 40 ish rather then 42 ish weeks.
My conception date, the last time I had sex and was fertile was the 29th December 2018.
I'm sat here in floods panicking and I'm not sure what to do.
Some calculators are saying I'm 2 weeks overdue others saying I'm 40 weeks only. Can someone offer a non bias opinion on this please.
My oh is ripping his hair out with me xxx

40wks is full term anyway so even if you are only 40wks baby will be fine!

loulou20106 · 05/10/2019 10:51

It doesn't matter? The baby is full term? What is it your actually panicking about? The date of the baby would of been accurate at your 12 week and 20 week scan. Honestly it's fine x

TheFaerieQueene · 05/10/2019 10:52

40 weeks is full term.

I had my DC at 35 weeks, he was and is fine. He is a strapping 28y o rugby player!

pooopypants · 05/10/2019 10:52

In the UK, your due date is estimated from your last period. The dates are then confirmed by your dating scan. Have you had any further scans OP?

Even if your baby is born at 40w, you're more than full term anyway. Unless there are any issues with baby, you or your placenta, theres usually no reason to panic or worry.

Is there an underlying reason why you seem so anxious?

ShowOfHands · 05/10/2019 10:56

They date from what your scans show anyway but if you definitely conceived on Dec 29th, yes you're 42 weeks.

What are you panicking about? Even if you were 40 weeks, that's full term.

Narlat · 05/10/2019 10:57

The initial scan has dated me befor my last period. So I had a early scan which dated the fetus at 5 weeks 6 days which put the only possible date of conception befor my last period, if that makes sense. So I've always been a bit untrusting of my date.
I'd rather give the baby a chance to come naturally then be induced and if I am only 40 weeks plus a few days it seems a bit early to be doing an induction.
I guess last minute nerves is all.
1st baby.
Thanks anyway

You’re 42 weeks. Conception was 40 weeks ago. For pregnancy dating they work from your last period which is about 2 weeks before conception.

Still shocked by how many adult women don’t know this.

DollyDaisyMayMight · 05/10/2019 11:00

Well then ask for conservative management - daily CTG monitorings and scans and possibly give yourself another few days?

loulou20106 · 05/10/2019 11:00

Bloody hell if someone wants to add a X on the end it's really not a big deal is it? Hardly the issue here Confused

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 05/10/2019 11:06

So I had a early scan which dated the fetus at 5 weeks 6 days which put the only possible date of conception befor my last period, if that makes sense.

Then that wasn’t a period. There’s no way a scan would date a foetus at 5weeks 6days if it was only a couple of weeks. You wouldn’t even see anything if the foetus was much younger than 5wks.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 05/10/2019 11:14

Your baby was the size of an almost 6 week baby when you were scanned. That means that they are the size they need to be to come into the world now. You have the right to refuse induction but I would look up the risks and benefits to make an informed decision.

LaLemonLaVidaLoca · 05/10/2019 11:21

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat Don't be a knob! Is there any need to add that snippy line in at the end?

OP baby will be full term at 40 weeks. Try to calm down Smile

Hesafriendfromwork · 05/10/2019 11:26

Babies born from 37 weeks are classed as full term.

Ds was born at 38 and was classed as full term.

Honestly op, are you usually this anxious? If you are I would suggest seeking support. The anxiety is not going to get easier when the baby is here.

McHelenz · 05/10/2019 11:40

I think when Im 40 weeks I'd just be happy they're getting it out 😂

mistermagpie · 05/10/2019 12:05

Both of my children were born before 40 weeks (but after 37). Both were full term, healthy babies.

Think of it this way, if you are wrong and you wait you are actually putting yourself and baby at more risk of something going wrong. Placenta etc can start to fail the closer you are to 42 weeks and certainly beyond, so really baby is better out than in.
