Hi all, just a curious post really.
Wondering what your babies expected birth weights were supposed to be and what they actually weighed when they arrived?

I am currently 39+1 and baby is currently measuring 8lb - will have to let you know if baby is under/spot on or over when s/he arrives - hoping it isn't the latter!

Dd1 was expected to be 10lb she was two weeks over due an

Mammyofasuperbaby · 05/10/2019 08:50

My ds is a iugr baby, they predicted his weight would be 2lb 5oz at 33 weeks but thankfully he was born weighing 2lb 14oz at 33+2 so still tiny but a hell of a lot better than predicted

VapeVamp12 · 05/10/2019 12:37

Really interesting reading!

Mine was estimated 2 pounds 12 at 28+5 growth scan and I have another this week coming at 32+5

maresedotes · 05/10/2019 13:30

homley I know! However she was born via a csection so I'm not complaining Smile

Mamagunner · 05/10/2019 13:45

My sonograoher at 36 weeks estimated baby would be 8lb at 40 weeks I said I was being induced at 39 weeks she responded with oh she'll be about 7lb9oz then she was born at 39 weeks weighing 7lb9oz.

bananamonkey · 05/10/2019 14:02

Only had the fundal height, had to have GD test just because it was measuring large, I’m tall with a long body Hmm graph predicted over 9lbs. She was 6lb 13oz a couple of days early. She was just really long!

homley · 05/10/2019 20:29

@bananamonkey, I am hoping ours will just be long too. Husband is 6ft4...

They said my baby was 6lb 9 2 weeks before he was born, was born a fortnight later weighing 5lb 6😂. I won't trust them this time round x

Kanga83 · 05/10/2019 21:00

First- expected 9lbs. Actual 10lbs 14oz at 41 weeks
Second- expected 8-9lbs. Actual 10lbs 8oz at 39 weeks. I fought for an elective earlier as I knew he'd be heavier. I felt heavier. Goodness knows what he would have been if I'd left it to 41 weeks.

Expressedways · 05/10/2019 21:00

I had 2 3rd trimester growth scans. I was told to expect DD to weigh in between 7 and a half and 8lbs at my 39 weeks ELCS. She was 7lb13 so it was dead on. Scans were done on a brand new machine by a prominent fetal medicine consultant- I don’t know if that made them more likely to be accurate.

Hiredandsqueak · 05/10/2019 21:14

Dsis was told her baby would be very small at 37wks. Dsis had hardly any bump and is naturally slim. He was born on his due date in the ambulance after a precipitous labour weighing 9lb 13oz.

ellesbellesxxx · 05/10/2019 21:17

Twins both measured 6lb at 35 weeks but sonographer was v clear they were hard to measure due to their position and being snuggled up! Onewas5lb13 and one6lb15 week after

RandomMess · 05/10/2019 21:21

Not big, just average (I am tiny with tiny hips and first was 7lb 6oz), she was 10lb 6oz.

iMatter · 05/10/2019 21:23

Midwife told me ds1 would be 7lbs.

He was born less than a week later and weighed over 9lbs.

Alyssum34456 · 05/10/2019 21:24

When and how do they do these birth estimates?

Ludways · 05/10/2019 21:28

My dc1 was 8lb 9ozs a day early, they measured dc2 at 9lb at 38 weeks, she was 11 days late and 8lb exactly. So completely wrong.

doublebarrellednurse · 05/10/2019 21:30

They told me DS was 8lbs at 35 weeks

He was 7lb 6 at 37 weeks

20viona · 06/10/2019 14:57

Expected birthweight was 5lb 6oz
Actual birthweight was 5lb 3oz.
I was induced at 37 weeks due to restricted growth.

sao81 · 06/10/2019 15:39

My baby measured 8lb8oz at 36 weeks, was born at 39 weeks 7lb1oz

CmdrCressidaDuck · 06/10/2019 15:42

When and how do they do these birth estimates?

At late growth scans, usually. Mine were both from growth scans about 36 weeks. One was bang on, one was more than a pound off.

FrangipaniBlue · 06/10/2019 16:15

At 34/36 wks (can't quite remember which) DS measures 8lbs and they told me to expect a 9.5/10lb baby

He was 7lb

To be fair, my bump was enormous though

annlee3817 · 07/10/2019 03:17

Scan on my due date measured DD at 7lbs 6oz and she arrived five days later weighing 7lbs 10oz, so not far off at all

Bucatini · 07/10/2019 11:18

@Alyssum34456

For a normal low risk pregnancy you would not get a growth estimate. It usually happens if you are being monitored more closely for some reason and therefore get a late scan (or pay to have one privately).

itsahardknocklife87 · 07/10/2019 18:32

DD1 was meant to be big she was born 7lb2oz DS meant to be small born weighing 8lb 5oz
