Travel insurance when pregnant

Hi, just looking for a bit of advice. I'll be flying on holiday when 27/28 weeks pregnant. Midwife said it's fine but make sure your travel insurance covers it. I've googled loads of travel insurance when pregnant and all give the info that they cover pregnancy under medical expenses . But no where on the forms you fill in is any questions about pregnancy , but everyone says let insurance company know. Anyone able to help me out on this? Confused

A normal pregnancy, provided you have a letter from your doctor / midwife and are flying within the pregnancy rules of the airline, is not a medical condition so it does not need to be declared.

We used Columbus Direct when I was pregnant. They don’t ask you any questions about being pregnant but state you’re covered.

I just gave my insurers a ring to double check and make sure that they knew I was pregnant. I was earlier than you are (maybe around 14 weeks?) though I think unless your at the stage of querying over fit to fly it's rarely an issue but I'd give them a quick call

I was on holiday when I was 27 weeks. I just emailed the bank (who our travel insurance is whit) to check that I was covered and they said it was fine.

I would suggest you check with your airline though, as some require a fit to fly letter from 27 weeks, some from 28 weeks, and earlier if it's a multiple or high risk pregnancy.

I spoke to my midwife who said it was fine by her for me to fly, but if the airline required a letter, it has to be done by the GP (not the midwife) and would have required an appointment

I got insurance from insure and go as they explicitly covered pregnancy and all medical expenses relating to premature labour/ baby etc at the same gestation as you. Didn’t end up needing to use them but was happy knowing I had it. Cost was a bit higher than what we normally pay for travel insurance but I suppose we were covering three people instead of two, the potential third being very expensive if they were born at 27/28 weeks!

Thanks everyone.
I have an app with doctor next week to ask for letter (hope she does one) as I'll be 28 weeks coming back and that's when you need fit to fly letter .
I'll just pick an insurance and let them know Smile
