hi all,

I'm really upset. me and partner just driving and the car in front suddenly stopped which caused my partner to break quite suddenly. I feel okay and have felt a few light movements since but can this cause anything? should I ring or just monitor movement/any pain or bleeding? I think it was more the shock of it than anything x

I’d go to the maternity outpatients/ EPU. Better check than regret.
How far along are you?

Hopex3 · 02/10/2019 18:45

I'm just over 31 weeks. I've felt her moving since but was quite a hard jolt :/ not sure if I feel so anxious cos it shocked me or not, wasnt any kind of impact but it freaked me right out x

I’d still go get checked. Just for peace of mind.

general consensus seems to be as not an actual accident and going below 30mph to keep an eye on anything out of the ordinary. bleeding/pain/lack of movements etc. but I have a scan booked for Friday. feeling a bit anxious still but have thought about people who have children/dogs etc who must get bumped into all the time. I think it was the shock of it that freaked me out as I didnt expect my partner to suddenly stop :( x

I'm sure you'll both be fine.
Good luck on Friday x.

I rattled myself with a gate a few weeks ago! Bruised my bump and everything and he's just fine :) 32 weeks and going strong. You'll be grand.

ah thank you, makes me feel a bit more reassured. I also know people who have had to do emergency stops on driving tests etc. I didn't have any marks or anything on me so the seatbelt didnt dig in hard but I'm such an anxious person the littlest thing is enough to make me panic :( x

I wouldn't worry unless there are signs of a problem (reduced movements etc). I'm sure the majority of pregnant women have had to brake heavily at some point (I have). I pass out regularly and have been told not to worry, even if I go down on my stomach, unless I get signs of a problem.

Hopex3 · 02/10/2019 21:28

thank you, that was the advice I got to keep an eye on anything unusual. just such a stressful time x

You should go get checked over even if its just to make u stop worrying, its better to be safe .

Hopex3 · 02/10/2019 21:42

I already spoke to them - as I'm not having pain/bleeding and movements are normal and wasnt a collision I have a scan on Friday. have been told to go straight up if any of that changes so keeping an eye for now x

I tripped over and landed slap on my bump at 36 weeks . All was fine and my daughter is now 26 !!! Babies are very well protected as nature intended...enjoy and relax .X

Hopex3 · 03/10/2019 08:42

thank you - I have not noticed any movement change, felt her this morning as usual. I would hope if I'd done any real damage I'd have some kind of sign etc. thanks for the reassurance x
