Clearblue Test Staying on 2-3 Weeks

Hi All.

Apologies if this has been raised before, but I can't stop worrying so looking for some advice.

I found out I was pregnant 13 days ago, Clearblue test said 2-3 weeks, since then I have done another 4 tests, the most recent being this morning and it still is showing 2-3 weeks. I suffer with anxiety already but this is driving me crazy and I google has now made me question if I may have had a missed miscarriage.

Has anyone has this and what was the outcome? Please Help!

Stop testing. You're just feeding your anxiety. They are explicitly not used to date conception. Hcg levels can vary for a huge number of reasons. A positive test (and yes, these are positive) cannot tell you whether or not a pregnancy is viable.

Anxiety can be debilitating, but please don't feed it. You don't have to.

Thanks for your response @physicskate

It really is easier said than done, I know I've done the worse by googling it but as we've decided to hold off telling anyone it does feel like the only option.

Hi unfortunately the same happened to me when I had a missed miscarriage, your HCG should really be doubling every 48 hours or close to that in the first few weeks. I was a serial tester and anxious too, you can’t help it so don’t blame yourself!

I think I would just prepare yourself that it may not be the outcome you want and see if you can get a scan at the EPU when you will be 7 weeks as they should be able to tell then. All the best xxx

@Summerloving17 so sorry to hear of your experience. Apart from that did you have any other symptoms that I might be able to look out for? X

No unfortunately not, I didn’t bleed until I was 10 weeks along and my test showed 2-3 weeks the whole time until then. I grew a sac but nothing was inside, I was monitored carefully as I had a previous ectopic pregnancy and it was an ivf conception. The only positive was I got pregnant again the following cycle and I’m now 34 weeks as they say you are more fertile afterwards. I hope for you it’s not the same as me but I just wanted to share just in case xxx

@Summerloving17 thank you, I appreciate you sharing. Interestingly I just called clear blue 🙈 and they advised that once you reach 6 weeks the weeks indicator is completely inaccurate and advised me to stop testing. I'm going to try and listen and hope for the best, I am considering paying for an early scan to try and put my mind at ease xx

The HCG levels the test looks for varies wildly. Min threshold for two weeks is around 150 and for three it’s around 2700. You could have been at the bottom end when you first tested. But without bloods it’s impossible to know. I’d call EPU to see if they’ll scan you before you pay for a test.

*pay for a scan

Unfortunately clearblue tests with weeks have always accurately predicted when a pregnancy wasn't viable in my experience (5 miscarriages)

The only time they were wrong was for both my ectopics x

Mintypea5 · 02/10/2019 18:06

Those damn tests should be banned! They're a marketing gimmick not an accurate test of a healthy pregnancy.

With all of my many miscarriage I got 3+ with my 2 of my 3 healthy pregnancies I never made it past 2-3 weeks (before I realised how much anxiety and stress they cause)

userabcname · 02/10/2019 18:07

I have never seen a 3+ on a clearblue and I have a 2yo and am 37 weeks pregnant with my second. Try not to worry! And congrats!

Thanks everyone for your feedback and reassuring comments. It's lovely to have someone to go during this period of not being able to speak to friends and family x
