Hi - if all goes to plan I'll have my first and only baby before I'm 50, but only just!
We have screened out most of the risks with modern medicine and I'm very fit and active and hoping to reduce chances of GD and other pregnancy related health concerns. My biggest worry is getting him or her out in 6-7 months!
I know there are a growing number of women pregnant between 45-early 50's, is there anyone in that situation on this forum?
I'm looking all over for a forum/support group for older women who are pregnant, believe me ladies, 35 isn't old :)

I don’t have any advice but I couldn’t pass without saying congrats and good luck 👍

wow!!! Good for you!

I am trying not to get pregnant at your age but I've finished having kids! Had my last in early 40s. Nearly did me in, lol.

Hope everything goes lovely and smooth for you.

Wow, fantastic and congrats. My sister's friend just had a baby at 47 but I don't know if she is on here - I will try to find out.

When I was pregnant with my last DC my Dr told me that her oldest mum was 54!!! (all natural and accidental!).

ClaudiaSchiffersUglySister · 01/10/2019 11:25

Ooh this is brilliant! Gives me hope. Congratulations!!!

BTW, I had 3 c-sections, the last in my 40's and because I was fit and active I was back up and about in 6 hours. It really is not a catastrophe if you need one.

Also, Pilates or Yoga are your friends - I did yoga on one Pilates on another and I preferred the Pilates. I also kept running (on my 40's baby) until I was 5 months pregnant. Exercise and lots of healthy eating should keep you ok - I had to stick to no sugar in case of GD even though there is no GD in my family and we are all very slim. Perhaps they do it as a precaution on us older mums?

Em39ma · 01/10/2019 12:28

There’s a group on here for over 40. At the moment we range from 40-45.
It is called older expectant mums and there’s another over 40 and pregnant with our first.
I’m 40 and being induced tomorrow. We are a good bunch. We talk about anything and everything.

Easter2020 · 01/10/2019 12:36

Good luck tomorrow Em39ma, and thanks for letting me know about you young 40-45 yr old mums calling yourself old :)

Having babies between 45-50 is normal in my family. Admittedly it’s rarely first kids or IVF but they never had any complications, so fingers crossed that applies for you. When are you due?

catlady3 · 01/10/2019 12:39

Just wanted to say congrats and all the best!

Easter2020 · 01/10/2019 12:43

I'm just at 8 weeks, but it has a really strong heartbeat and after a missed miscarriage I'm feeling very different this time. Mainly absolutely
knackered lol! If I weren't old, I think I would be due early May, But I'm expecting they will have me deliver a bit early...now gone from researching best IVF specialist in the country to best place in London to have a baby lol. I've already been advised that a water birth at home with a lava lamp is out of the question and I'm ok with that. x My sister had that, I can live through her wonderful experience hahah

Congratulations!!

Jesskir89 · 01/10/2019 12:51

Congratulations and wishing you all the best

Teddybear45 · 01/10/2019 13:36

Brilliant. If I were you I would go via your IVF clinic (or Zita West) and get a recommendation for a fetal medicine consultant. I also suggest asking them if they want to keep you on aspirin / blood thinners / steroids / progesterone etc until you see a consultant. Mine didn’t change anything for me and kept prescribing (and asking my GP to prescribe) until the consultant saw me.

Confused38 · 01/10/2019 14:09

Just wanted to say congratulations

@Easter2020 followed your lovely news from afar and hoping it all went well? A similar situation to yours and hoping you might be able to guide me as to which ivf specialist you went with. Hoping your little one is here and you are both wellx
