Severe Morning Sickness HELP

KAB1291 · 30/09/2019 11:43

Hello, I'm 9+4 and this is our first baby. I've been violently sick every day since week 4, and it's beginning to take toll.
I've been off work as some days I'm unable to do general chores in the house without being sick and completely exhausted.
I've been to the doctor and prescribed tablets, however they aren't getting the chance to work as I'm just vomiting them back up.
I've tried all the "old wife's tales" remedies I can find online, does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks Smile

I feel your pain I had it with both of mine. Have you tried the acupressure bands that you wear on your wrist I found those really helpful. Ginger helped a little as did chewing gum and bizarrely eating celery and sucking a lemon! Small meals little and often and keep drinking to keep hydrated. Go back to your GP as if you are dehydrated you may need to have a drip or something. Best of luckFlowers

I've been hospitalised twice for dehydration already, as I was struggling to keep liquid down. I have some days better than others, but not many.

I eat little and often but usually I'm sick within 20 mins of eating.

I'll have a look around and see if I can get gone of those bracelets, thanks!! X

Could you ask your gp or practice nurse to administer your anti emetic as an injection instead?

greeentopmilk · 30/09/2019 12:10

Try taking the anti sickness tablets just as you go to sleep and whenever you wake in the night. Any time your sickness has calmed a little so they can get into your system.

For me it took about a week to build up enough cyclizine in my system for it to work because I kept throwing it back up. Just keep trying.

KAB1291 · 30/09/2019 12:15

@greeentopmilk I've been told to take these every two hours or so, which is proving difficult lol.

I take them before bed, but most mornings I wake at 6am to throw up still.

I've been administered the injection previously, which helped for a day but unfortunately I'm back to the day way the following day.

I'm just praying that this doesn't last much longer as I know I'm not eating enough and have very little energy as a result

@KAB1291 take a look in the hyperemesis support page. I've been in and out of hospital over a dozen times for the first 13 weeks of my pregnancy ending in home visits to daily injections and iv medication due to how poorly I was. I'm slowly improving but still on medication everyday. Hope you start to feel better soon. It is really horrible feeling so sick.

Old Jamaica ginger beer in a tin has proper root ginger in it . It might help.
It's really refreshing .
