I’ve decided on breastfeeding when baby gets here, although I’m not sure on what to buy. Anyone recommend anything ? There seems to be an awful lot to buy for breastfeeding but is there any ESSENTIALS I really need Smile Thank you x Halo

Lanolin! Put it on all the time. I'd also invest in a breastpump, you might feel differently but I found a £40 Double electric breastpump on Amazon and it was amazing. I'd pump once a day in the evening for 15 minutes and I'd gave extra milk for the baby and it helped me with my supply as both of mine were huge eaters it helped stop them be so fussy at the breast during growth spurts. It's very frustrating for both of you if they're being fussy and having a bit of extra milk seemed to help but you definitely don't need it.

If you can find a breastfeeding cafe they're great at giving you tips, like signs of hunger or give you ideas for different positions. You can also pay for a lactation consultant to come round and give you a one on one. I paid for one after my second had an undiagnosed tongue tie and they gave me loads of tips and I breastfed my first for 18 months so I considered myself an old hat at it but there's so much you forget or never knew

Definitely a comfortable nursing bra. Buy 2 if you find one you like.

Lots of breast pads. I had to change mine after every feed for the first 4 months because I leaked so much.

Lots of muslins for spit up or leaking from one breast while feeding from the other at night or when braless.

No other essentials. Lanolin wasn't useful for me but I know lots of others found it a life saver.

I'm planning to breastfeed for the first time this time (number 3) and I'm overwhelmed by everything.

I struggled to get BF going and found the Boppy pillow really helped me get baby in a good position and keep her there long enough to get a good feed. I even took it out with me in the early days!

I read The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by Le Leche League which was very helpful explaining what to expect at each stage from birth through to toddler.

I found a local breastfeeding clinic and dropped in when I lost confidence in what's I was doing - the women there were amazingly supportive and had great biscuits Smile

I was in a charity bookshop yesterday, saw a copy of the rise and fall ofthe yummy mummy. I read this absolute tosh when I was cluster feeding 😀

Also don't let anyone cook you a meal you can't eat just with a fork it's soul destroying

Nursing bras, breast pads and nipple cream is all I needed.

Sorry to hijack but I’ve been considering the bbhugme pregnancy pillow and wondered if anyone had used for bf? I see they have a feeding pillow too but it’s expensive for both! I had spd last pregnancy followed by hip problems and now have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia so thinking ahead to what might make experience more comfy.
