@DressingGown87 mine grew during pregnancy. The pain eased as baby grew I’d say from the third trimester. It can back afterwards then eased as the cyst started shrinking. I’ve got another scan on Monday so I don’t know how big or small it is now but my stomach has started to grow slightly.

Hi all sorry for delay in reply! I am having more discomfort recently from the cyst but it's mainly if I get up too quickly or sit down too fast. As it's that large then slightest disturbance causes an ache more than a pain. I'll be 38+2 when I have the procedure. They have also said as I'm on the larger side (understatement lol) I'll be on anti biotics before and after as I'm high risk of wound infection! Feeling a little more relaxed about it now. Although the latest is they have stopped all visiting in my hospital other than the partner, which means none of my family will be able to meet baby until we are home and that could be a while! My mum is so upset about it and so is my 13 year old. They are both worriers. I'm going to ask at my next appt if they could just pop in to see I'm ok after the op.

I cant believe how many other mums are in a similar situation. It's really reassuring. And I will of course update here as soon as i can, as and when things happen!

X

@Rebecca612 @Bluestar17 Thank you for your replies.
I have another scan this Wednesday, so will see if it’s changed. It’s just discomfort on that side, and obviously I’m still in the early stages, so it shouldn’t be getting my pressure off the baby. My sonographer said they where common with rising hormones.

My others have fluctuated for the last 18 years, I think I’ve had around 14 operations to remove cysts. Now they just leave them, until they have to, and they generally just grow and shrink.

@bluestar hope your scan goes well and your DC is doing great.

@sarahloubert my general pain comes from walking. Sorry to see your in discomfort too. Good luck with the procedure, the hospitals are all on strict measures, hopefully your son and mum can see you soon x

I have about 17 days left now (not that I'm counting lol) I'm just not looking forward to the recovery side if I'm honest but I just keep thinking give it a couple of months and it will all be over and I can enjoy my little girl.

I've had this cyst drained before. That was a horrible experience! I was on the list for a drain but I woke up one day in horrendous pain and it had twisted and was turning my ovary with it. Never felt pain like that before!

Just glad they are taking it completely and if they are also taking the ovary and tube then it deffo wont be back!

Hope the pain subsides for you too hun. If it's any consolation mine did shrink at some points along this pregnancy but its had a growth spurt in the last few weeks. X

Bluestar17 · 16/03/2020 10:11

I’ve just had my scan and the cyst is completely gone! Thank God. I’m 20 weeks pp. my ovary is fine etc. I bled about 3 weeks ago for 4 weeks straight I was worried as my periods should’ve been fine but I’m assuming that was the cyst.
I hope for the best with all of you and you babies.
My son is doing well growing and growing so fast.
Thanks x

@bluestar that is fab news! Brilliant!

Had a bit of a breakdown yesterday as with this Covid-19 they have now even stopped dads visiting at my hospital only can be your birthing partner. Well obviously because I'm going under a GA he wont be allowed in theatre. So he rang maternity and they have told him that he wont be meeting our little girl until we come home which is potentially when she will be 7 to 10 days old. I just hope in the next 15 days things change a bit! I dont think anything else could go wrong now! Confused

Rebecca612 · 20/03/2020 08:13

@sarahloubert that sounds awful. Do you have any consultant appointments coming up before the operation so you can beg/plead with them for your partner to be able to see his baby? Try and ask that if he doesn’t have any symptoms, has been social distancing that could he come in and at least have a cuddle with the baby? So far we’ve been told I’m allowed a maximum of two visitors per stay and I’m not allowed to mix them up so my poor parents might not be able to meet their first grandchild until we get home from hospital and god knows when that will be!

@Bluestar17 That’s fantastic news! What a relief for you! I was given the option to wait 12 weeks pp but was told I can’t use any hormonal contraceptives at all in that time. Now my cyst has doubled in size they won’t hear of anything but to take it out haha!

Bluestar17 · 20/03/2020 08:22

@sarahloubert so sorry to hear. Hope they can let him just for a moment.

Thanks @rebecca612 i too contraceptive from 12 weeks and I think it helped as I only seem to get it when not on contraception. Hopefully it goes on it’s own like mine did. Anything’s possible

DressingGown87 · 20/03/2020 08:48

@sarahloubert so sorry to hear that! I know they have put strict restrictions in place, but for your partner to stay away for that length of time, from you and your newborn daughter seems so unfair.

@bluestar17 that is amazing news! Glad to hear your son is doing amazing too.

I had my scan on Wednesday, and it hasn’t grown, or reduced. They are going to monitor it throughout the pregnancy, and go from there.

sarahloubert · 20/03/2020 11:53

Sorry for delay in reply. Saw the midwife yesterday and she said as I'm in the night before the op to plead with the ward manager to let him come in. She said they all have hearts so hopefully will let him have 5 mins with her. It's just such a rubbish situation isnt it. I know I'm not the only one and I've sort of got my head around it I think. Hopefully I will do well and get to come out early so I'm going to do exactly as I'm told to lol. Hope you ladies are doing well. X

DressingGown87 · 20/03/2020 22:00

@sarahloubert feel for you though, it’s a tough situation we are all presented with. Yes they probably have families themselves, so I’m sure if you ask nicely, he should hopefully be able to come and see you even if it’s for 5minutes. I know it’s not the same, but Atleast we live in a technology world, and you can video call. Preying you have a quick recovery, and they will probably want you out quickly.

sarahloubert · 22/03/2020 05:34

@DressingGown87 this is what I'm thinking lol. I work at the hospital I will be having the baby at and I know they are so pushed for beds. So my logic is if I do as I'm told they may let me home early to recover at home. I just need to make sure I pack my charger for my phone and god bless NHS WiFi lol. I've been up most of the night again, just cant seem to switch off! I have a 13 year old who is going to have to go and stay with my parents who are 77 and 78 years old when I go into hosp so I'm a bit worried about them being given the virus. Although that being said my son hasn't been in school for over a week as he dislocated his knee and by the time he goes to stay with my parents he will have been indoors for over 14 days, I'm guessing that's ok? No symptoms at all either. In fact I think hes living his best life lying in bed all say on the xbox lol x

Rebecca612 · 04/04/2020 22:45

I’m hoping the op went well, you’re feeling okay and your DP was able to come and visit @sarahloubert xxx

sarahloubert · 05/04/2020 07:50

Hi! It really didnt turn out as bad as I anticipated. I had my DD on 1st april via section. They also performed a cystectomy and a partial hysterectomy. I should have been in hospital until next Tuesday but I made sure I was up as soon as I could so I was discharged after 2 days! I am in considerable pain so relying on pain killers still but doing much better at home. My surgical birth team were amazing. They organised for my hubby not only to be able to be in recovery but to come in before I went into theatre too. So once my baby was born she went straight to him. I was supposed to have been taken back down to the maternity ward after surgery and he was to go home but I had a fee complications and my blood pressure and pulse was uncontrollable at one point so I was kept on the high dependency delivery unit. They were amazing and let my hubby stay overnight until I was taken to the ward. So the whole experience wasnt too bad in the end! I've just got to work out now how to look at my baby without crying over how beautiful she is 🤣 hope everyone else is doing well xx

Rebecca612 · 05/04/2020 08:51

Oh that’s such good news and huge congrats to you! I’m so glad it went well and despite the pain you’re feeling okay! That’s great about your DH, the hospital sound amazing and I’m over the moon for you!
Did it take much longer after your little girl was born to remove the cyst and partial hysterectomy? Oh gosh was the pulse and blood pressure part scary or was you too interested at staring at your little girl to notice? Haha aw I’m really happy for you!!! Xxx

sarahloubert · 05/04/2020 19:52

Shes just amazing they could have chopped off my leg and I wouldnt have noticed once id got her lol. She was born at 10.50am and I met her at around 1PM. The BP was purely down to the trauma of the surgery mixed with a GA. And considering they were telling me all along she was going to be a big girl I was expecting a monster lol but she was 7lbs 12oz and has the shortest legs ever. Her feet only go down to the knees of first size clothes. Shes just amazing xx

Rebecca612 · 05/04/2020 20:32

Aw that’s so lovely! I’m so happy for you that all went well - sending you and your family tonnes of congratulations and cuddles! X

LKB95 · 30/05/2023 14:16

hello,

Adding to this a little bit later than the original feed but I’m currently 8+6 pregnant and have a large ovarian cyst on my left.

Added to high risk, and being scanned again in 2 weeks as my cysts has grown 3cm each way in 2 weeks.

interested to hear if anyone else more recently is suffering? As I know cysts are common in pregnancy x

rxbyy · 08/03/2024 19:49

Im 15 and a couple days ago i had my ovarian cyst removed. they only just managed to save my left tube but they say it might not work since its so thin, iv had the cyst for years but they have only just found out so 2 weeks after discovery iv been rushed for the operation. i ended up having keyhole and a c section. the recovery is not what i expected. its harder through nights sleeping than it is through the day, especially going to the toilet. I'm managing quite well so hopefully its an easy recovery, iv passed the days where the pain was bad but i have faith now it will all go smoothly

PatRey · 08/03/2024 22:11

I had a private scan at 10 weeks where they found a 7cm cyst on my ovary. I’m having my nhs 12 week scan on Monday so interested to see what they say, the midwife just said to be mention it to the sonographer. Feel a bit anxious about it, does anyone know what to expect? Will they likely say leave it and we’ll check again at the 20 week scan?

DLH2024 · 01/06/2024 13:50

@Bluestar17 sorry to jump on 4 years later but I had my 12 week ultrasound yesterday and a 10cm cyst was found on my ovaries and was wondering if yours was 13cm throughout or if it had grown to be that size throughout the pregnancy?
