To find out the sex at 12 weeks

I’m hoping to have a Harmony test at 10 weeks, which means that if I want to I can find out the sex at just 12 weeks. Has anyone else done this? It seems almost too early to find out in some funny way, but DH is keen! I’m not sure whether to find out now or keep it as a surprise for the 20 week scan...

@Apples78 - we had the harmony done last week as I’m a bit older (in the eye seeing of medical science) and our combined screening results weren’t as low risk as we’d have liked.
We got the results back today (the lab called) as low risk and it was just the biggest relief and worth every penny!!
We haven’t opened the email yet to find out the sex (I’m at work and want DH to get to open it).
If you can do it, go for it!
Good luck, OP!

Thanks @ELW85! Can I ask where you had yours done? I'm looking at the FMC but it takes two weeks for the results to come back apparently.

Enjoy opening that email!

I had a harmony test because I was worried at 37 about a baby with down syndrome
It cost £400 and I will get one again with my next pregnancy once it finally happens that is
It's great they can tell you what your having so early

I had mine later than 10 weeks so they knew from the scan I was having a girl and didn't have to wait for the blood tests results to tell me the sex which was great because they were able to test for 4 different types of genetic disabilities one is just for the girlies

@Apples78 - ours was with Ultrasound Direct, which was actually done at our local Mothercare! The sonographer was from the local hospital and we got the results back in less than a week/4 working days.
The ultrasound direct team were great; I rang them to see when we’d get the results and they called the lab directly to get them chased. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

@Apples78 I’ve had it done twice at FMC as we were in London then. At the time it took up to two weeks as the bloods were sent to the USA for testing! I’m sure ours cane back a bit quicker. There was no labs or hardly any doing it here at the time.

Also FMC doctors have trained under Professor Kypros Nicolaides and he’s involved with the centre so we felt it was the best place to go.

We did ours at FMC too and would highly recommend. Much preferred it over ultrasound direct. I feel like their machines are more powerful too and I got to see more detail of the baby compared to ultrasound direct.
