PGP and work

I'm currently 26 almost 27 weeks pregnant and suffering with PGP. I'm really struggling especially at work as moving about is so uncomfortable. I saw the physio who suggested working reduced hours or just taking time off for a few days at a time when its particular bad to rest up for a few days. My question is and I've not yet spoken to work about reduced hours but would this affect my maternity pay if they were to agree to reduced hours as cant afford for it to compromise my mat pay.

You need to look at your company's maternity policy. In my line of work they have agreed reduced hours as part of a reasonable adjustment and I have taken leave to ensure I am doing my bit as well. I understand how bloody painful it is. I understand it to be the case that legally they can't start you on mat leave before 36 weeks. So if it continues to worsen and you're signed off until 36 weeks then your company can't kick in the maternity leave until that point. It would just be pregnancy related sick which falls outside the parameters of regular sick leave i.e. they can't penalise you for it!

Hope speaking with them goes well

You need to double check when your qualifying period is for your maternity pay. If you start working less hours before or during your qualifying period, it will affect your maternity pay. If you waited until after your qualifying period it will not affect your maternity pay.

Thanks everyone I'll take a look at the paperwork and speak to them today. Just wish the pain would go away so I could feel like myself again

Check out the pelvic partnership, has your physio tried to correct the underlying problem? If not you should see whether it's possible to get to one of the physios listed on the pelvic partnership website. I saw one for a one off session and it helped so much. I wish I could go regularly but it's not possible.
