Pubic area in agony!

30+3 and my pubic area is KILLING ME. When I walk, when I sit, when I stretch or move it feels like I'm being stabbed (not lightening crotch, it's a pressure type of feeling). I assume it's normal, correct me if I'm wrong, but how can I make it less uncomfortable?!

@Andersonx3 has this just started ?

Andersonx3 · 24/09/2019 11:19

It started on Sunday @kellyw1989, but has gotten progressively worse until today, could barely walk down the stairs to the loo just now at work!!

Is it only around your pubic area ?

Sleepyhead19 · 24/09/2019 11:22

Contact your midwife. It sounds like spd. I had it from 30 weeks last time and it started with a groin ache. Try to keep off your feet if possible as that makes it worse. You’ll probably get a referral for physio.

SRK16 · 24/09/2019 11:23

No real advice, only sympathy. I had this over the weekend and could hardly walk. I think baby was on a nerve as it’s eased off now, still sore but can move around. Not sure if same for you but maybe see if you can encourage baby to shift position?

PlinkPlink · 24/09/2019 11:23

Hmm... I distinctly remember feeling like the world was about to fall out of my vagina at about 35 weeks?

Is that the feeling you're talking about?

Andersonx3 · 24/09/2019 11:24

@kellyw1989 yes just in my pubic area.

I already have sciatica and spinal arthritis so I'm used to pain in my back but currently my back is fine!

I'll give the MW a call after work @Sleepyhead19

@SRK16 sorry you suffered this too!!

@PlinkPlink yes Hahahaha!

@Andersonx3 I think a call to the midwife could be worthwhile

Andersonx3 · 24/09/2019 11:28

@kellyw1989 thank you, I'll give her a call after work!

If it is SPD (which I appear to have and I’m not as far along as you), then my midwife recommended a support belt (mine is a Serola) and to see my GP for a physio referral - but the latter could take some time.

If you can afford it, you may want to consider seeing a women’s health physio or an osteopath. I’ve just seen an osteopath and while it hasn’t completely relieved the pain, it has definitely made a difference within hours.

combatbarbie · 24/09/2019 11:37

Ah the lovely SPD.... I feel for you. I got a support to wear which helped

DeadDoorpost · 24/09/2019 11:39

Sounds like PGP (otherwise known as SPD but I said that to my midwife and she looked at me weird as that's what they use to say Spontaneous Preterm Delivery) 🤷🏻‍♀️

I felt like I was being torn apart down there. Still do occasionally even though I've now given birth.

PlinkPlink · 24/09/2019 11:46

Yes I remember it well. I had to change the way I got out of bed as otherwise it was quite painful 😂😂

It sounds normal to me but always worth checking with the MW just in case.

Not long to go now (though it feels like you've been pregnant forever now)!

cakeordeath89 · 24/09/2019 13:37

Nothing to add really in terms of advice but definitely offering sympathy/empathy as I have started with it in the last week - incredibly painful as it's not just pubic area but shooting down my thigh. It's so frustrating as I love walking and can barely get up from my chair to pick things up from the printer.
I'll be watching this thread for any tips!

I'm calling the Doctors at 2pm to try and get an emergency appointment as not due to see Midwife until next week (I'm 31 weeks but she's on holiday so having to wait until 32).

Andersonx3 · 24/09/2019 13:57

Seems like a common pain - hope you're all coping okay ladies!

I'll call MW at around 4 when I finish work and see what they say!

I'm in pieces with this pelvic/groin pain atm...I feel for you...feels hard to even close my legs properly...my back & hips were crunching last night when I rolled over...think it's normal...but agony x

loveyourself87 · 26/09/2019 10:48

Hi All,

can i jump on here as i can't find any threads about cramping in early pregnancy. I'm having dull aches around cervix area just like period pain, also really bad lower back ache. 8 weeks preggers roughly and had scan last week which showed baby+heartbeat... is this normal and could my 'period' due date coming up have anything to do with it? shitting myself :-(

loveyourself87 · 26/09/2019 16:00

Anyone?

Andersonx3 · 26/09/2019 16:42

Hi @loveyourself87 there should be plenty of threads about cramping in early pregnancy, have you used the search bar to find them? Cramping is relatively normal but if you have any bleeding it's definitely worth getting checked out. Sorry I can't be of much more help, I had plenty of cramps at your gestation though if it makes you feel any better, I'm almost 31 weeks now!
