My lo’s was 2.7mm - they never said anything bad about it but I worried myself sick from googling. He was fine - no issues when he was born. I think it's actually just the higher end of normal. My blood tests at the time came back low risk 1:1300 but I still worried at my friends had much lower results (like 1:10.000).

Kam610 · 20/09/2019 10:28

Mine was 3.1mm. I worried myself sick after reading what other people's results were. Anything under 3.5 is normal apparently, but mine was on the higher side so I did nothing but panic. But i got my blood results through with a risk factor of 1:1749 which is low risk. Don't worry until you get your blood results through.

mistermagpie · 20/09/2019 12:47

It's fine at that level, mine was 3.2 with DS and he was absolutely fine.

BeanBag7 · 20/09/2019 15:05

Don't start worrying until there is something to worry about. If you are high risk you will get a phone call in the next few days, theres no point worrying now because there is no way to know and worrying doesnt help or make a difference.
Even if your results come back as high risk, doesn't definitely mean something is wrong.

Ginandtonic31 · 20/09/2019 16:13

I would wait and see what your full screening results are. I'm 32 and the measurement was 2mm but my risk came back as 1 in 49,000 so just don't worry yet.

Brexitstash · 20/09/2019 16:15

Could you think about the harmony or another NIPT?

Oysterbabe · 20/09/2019 16:44

That's fine, within normal limits. My son was 2.7mm and low risk.
As an aside, I bet you're having a boy. I've noticed that often when healthy babies have a NT on the higher side of normal they end up being boys.

mistermagpie · 20/09/2019 17:43

I've had two boys, the first was 1.6mm and second was 3.2 so I don't think that stands up to scrutiny. This pregnancy was 1.9 so we'll see...

summeryet · 20/09/2019 18:03

Hi,

My second (currently still on the inside) had a measurement of 3.0, I panicked like crazy! Combined with the blood results, they are considered low risk.

Avoid google! They'll call you in a few days if there's anything to worry about. Chances are more than likely that all will be fine!

3.5mm is now considered the upper limit and you're waaaay off that! X

Bol87 · 20/09/2019 20:40

Wait until you get your results. Each individual marker on its own isn’t necessarily a worry. For example, my HCGb from the blood test is at the top end of normal but my PAPP-A normal and the fluid normal. Altogether, this gives a low risk result. I was 1:1300 for Downs and 1:100,000 for P & E syndrome!

The high HCGb freaked me out a bit but my midwife explained it was in normal range, I’m a high hormoner (I have HG which may tie together) and together with the other results = low risk. It’s the three results combined together that is the bit to pay attention too Smile

My daughter had an NT of 6.8mm and I was scared stiff. I had numerous tests and scans throughout my pregnancy and everything looked OK. My DD is now 10 months old and perfectly healthy. Try not to worry too much, although I appreciate this is harder said than done.

Sarraa · 19/11/2020 22:01

@Emmaemmaemmaemma Do you mind me asking the outcome? I'm 13 Weeks and also had a measurement of 2.6mm. waiting on bloods and panicking...

Oneandabean · 19/11/2020 22:07

@Sarraa anything under 3.5 is normal under that don’t panic

Stacylouise14 · 19/11/2020 22:52

My daughters was over 6mm she also had a cystic hygroma, I was sat in a room after my 12 week scan and basically told to think about a termination as there was a 85 percent chance she would be severely disabled, after numerous tests, scans, placenta biopsys, heart scans, stress and me deciding to carry on with my pregnancy my daughter was born absolutely healthy!! She is now 6 and the biggest sassiest diva ❤️ Try and think positive. Sending lots of love xx

3rdtimemomma · 20/11/2020 08:44

The measurement is relative to how far aswel, so if it was taken at 14 weeks it would be evan bigger. It may have been less have you had your scan a week earlier.
I really wouldn't worry at all x

Cityzen74 · 20/11/2020 09:12

@Sarraa my DS had a measurement of 2.6 and I worried too. He was born absolutely healthy and is 3 now. I know is hard but try not to worry 💐

Sarraa · 20/11/2020 09:30

@Oneandabean @Stacylouise14 @3rdtimemomma @Cityzen74

Thank you all so much for your comments! This has made me feel so much better! The sonographer said it was all normal, but the consultant I met with afterwards just casually dropped in it was borderline which worried me. Thanks again :)
