Struggling to drink

I'm really struggling to drink water... most of the time it just makes me sick! I'm 10+5 and know that I'm not drinking enough, I get probably about a litre a day (mostly water and orange juice).

Can not drinking enough cause any harm to my baby? I try to drink more but just can't keep it down! Starting to worry I'm causing harm to my little one from lack of water ☹️

Whatever u eat or drink the baby will take what it needs first then u get the rest but fluids are important I'd ring doctors or midwife u may need tablets or a drip to stop you dehydrating

If orange juice helps then try diluting your water with it. Basically any fluid that stays down counts as part of your water count. My MS started in the second trimester and for me only squash or hot drinks stayed down so midwife told me to switch to sugar free / decaf options

I came across a similar thread when I was in the early weeks of pregnancy as it was something I really struggled with too. As I seem to remember there were some suggestions as to what you could try, I.e. ice cubes, ice lollies, etc.
I remember the phase well and found it miserable not to be able to stomach fluids. I can assure you though that it did pass. I'm 25 weeks pg now and from around the 12 week mark I could (thankfully) stomach everything again!
There is light at the end of the tunnel. Take sips of whatever you can face. I know that I didn't drink nearly enough in the easy weeks but just had to consume what I could when I could.
Hope this helps and all the best for a healthy pregnancy 🙂

Not drinking can be dangerous, more for you than baby. Dehydration is pretty serious and there are a few tell tale signs - really dark, smelly wee or bright orange, peeling skin, peeling lips, if you pinch your skin, it doesn’t spring back.. and the doctors test on ketones - you can by ketone sticks on Amazon and check yourself. Or go to your docs and they’ll do a quick dip stick in a wee sample. If ketones are present, it’s a sign of dehydration & you will possibly need fluid by IV. Other symptoms are dizziness, lightheaded & generally feeling awful.

I’ve had 3 hospital admission for dehydration so far,, Sad

That said, I’m doing OK now. I don’t drink enough in terms of the two litre guidance. But I drink enough to keep the ketones out my wee and feel relatively hydrated. Hopefully you are getting enough down but if at all concerned, a quick trip to the docs won’t harm to double check!

Can you drink no added sugar squash? Obviously its like 90% diluted with water so thats perfectly fine.

Iv never drank more than 1.5 L and thats on a good day, iv only noticed a problem when I am busy and hot thats when I need to drink more (35 weeks) xx

Hi Op, I am 8 weeks and having the same problem plus I feel absolutely awful no energy muscles aching headaches.

I am seriously considering going to the doctors because I need a way to get fluids into me.

Just drink anything you can; I had a lot of lemonade early on and while it didn’t feel healthy it was liquid at least

While not fantastic for the environment, I can't stomach tap water but can drink bottled.

Is it all water for you or have you tried different brands? Some turn my stomach and others don't.
