Confused about dates

This time 2 years ago, I was pregnant. My LMP (still have it in my app) was 8th Aug, and I gave birth on 16th June. I've just realised that was 44 weeks!! How is that possible?

The reason I've noticed is I've just been at doctor, pregnant for 2nd time, and coincidentally, my LMP was 7th Aug... BUT doc is calculating my due date as 13th May.Confused

Are you sure you've not got your dates mixed up? I'm sure you would have realised last time and they wouldn't let you go 4 weeks over. Maybe your period last time was September but you've forgot?

LMP is just a general guide for an approximate due date until you have your scan. It can be normal to be a few weeks out

LMP is an estimate. They assume that ovulation occurs 2 weeks after period.
At 12 week scan they measure the actual size of the baby to find their exact age and give you more accurate due date.

What PP said, from the day I ovulated I should be due 27th Oct, but when they measured baby they put my DD to the 19th x

Jesskir89 oh no I'm 100% about my dates, we were trying for a year so every month was analysed to death!Grin True, yes BeanBag7 I think I actually probably did ovulate late the last time, looking forward to the 12 week scan to get a better idea. Feels so far away!

They base the due date on the size of the baby at the12 week scan. You likely had a baby that looked normal but was 1-2 weeks smaller than it should have been and so the sonographer rightly assumed your dates were wrong. Unless you have IVF you can never be 100% about ovulation because ovulation sticks just test the hormones leading up to ovulation NOT that you have definitely ovulated or not. Example: Women who have undiagnosed pcos often appear fertile through ovulation tests throughout their cycle but won’t ovulate until later on (if at all).
