Anyone have an anterior placenta??

I am 19 weeks pregnant and found out at gender scan a couple of weeks ago that I have an anterior placenta. On the pregnancy apps I have such as bounty etc they say for example 'you would have no doubt felt flutters now' which I haven't. I know that it can take longer to feel movements when placenta is in this position but it still causes me abit of anxiety that something is wrong. Anyone else feel like this ? To those who have felt movement now how many weeks were you?

I have, found at at 16 weeks at a gender scan also.
I'm 22 weeks now, I started feeling her at 20 weeks, I had to lie on my back and I could sleep her really low down, much lower than I thought.

For me it didnt feel like popcorn popping or flutters, or butterflies. It felt like a baby moving inside me, maybe because their a bit bigger at 20 weeks so what you can feel through the placenta is stronger than what you would have felt when they first started moving if it was posterior.

She moves all the time now, it's starting to create a pattern (usually when I'm trying to sleep or while I at work she takes me by surprise)

Dont worry, it wont be long. I was gutted when I found out as reading horror stories about nor feeling anything until 24, 28 weeks and people not feeling anything the whole day through.

But you'll get there! Congratulations xx

I did in my first pregnancy. I was a bit sad as thought I wouldn’t feel as much but felt little flutters at 19 weeks.
Her movements still felt amazing and she got into her own pattern. You will find your normal.
Congratulations.

I do and started feeling him move around the 20 week markwhen in previous pregnancys ive been able.to feel them move from around 16 or 17. Im now 37 weeks and constantly feeling movements aswell as seeing them so wouldn't worry too much

Mintypea5 · 15/09/2019 09:05

I had with DS2 unfortunately it was massive and right across my front so I didn't feel him move really at all very stressful and worrying. I found I could feel movement lying on my side tho sometimes (also I think DS2 was just lazy). Did feel him move until 22 weeks

This pregnancy high anterior right side and I've felt loads of movements. I can tell when she's behind the placenta it feels like dull thuds compared to the other side. Started feeling her move about 17/18 weeks (baby 3 tho!)

Thatsanicepear · 15/09/2019 09:06

I have one. I'm nearly 24 weeks and started feeling movements at about 22 weeks but they are still quite sporadic and I can feel a fair bit some days and not a lot on other days. If you haven't felt anything by 24 weeks then the advice is to go and see your midwife and they will listen for a heartbeat but I really wouldn't worry too much yet. The baby is still little and has plenty of places to hide!

coffeeaddiction · 15/09/2019 09:06

I had one but didn't feel anything til 24/25 weeks

Inthesky42 · 15/09/2019 10:30

I have one. Started feeling little bits around 19 weeks but mw told me I really shouldn't worry if I don't feel anything until 24 weeks. I'm now 27 weeks and getting proper kicks! I'm sure you'll feel something soon x

I’m 34+5 and my placenta has definitely affected my ability to feel baby moving throughout. I’ve been to the hospital twice because I worried myself silly. I felt much more movement after 28weeks but I can see more than I feel too! You find your own pattern of normal with it. And don’t be put off by people asking “is baby moving loads?” Xx

Cgboyd · 15/09/2019 17:40

I have an anterior placenta as well and didn't feel anything at all until 23 weeks. Seemed to bypass all the 'flutters' straight to proper kicks! Don't worry at all.

BeckyHS · 15/09/2019 17:46

I have an anterior placenta and I've felt kicks from about 22 weeks. 33 weeks now - baby is breech too - and I feel movement and kicks lots. It gets into a pattern that you know Smile

Pcosmama · 15/09/2019 17:59

I have an anterior placenta but started feeling tiny TINY flutters really low down at 17 weeks. They stopped at 19 weeks as baby shifted position and I couldn't feel the kicks being directed at the placenta any more. From 21 weeks on they felt more like little kicks and now at 29 weeks I can see AND feel movements mainly in the right side and low down. Even now though, I have quiet days when I can barely feel anything and get panicky and that's when the baby has its feet tucked behind the placenta.

I was told not to worry about movements and I'd probably feel them from 24 weeks, and it's only from 28 weeks that they want you to be really aware of a pattern.

As an aside, my friend is also pregnant at the moment, she's 20 weeks now and has a posterior placenta and still hasn't felt a thing! So don't worry about it!

Bellasblankexpression · 15/09/2019 18:05

Didn’t feel much until 22 now feeling lots of twitch like movements in the evening or after eating and I’m 23 weeks.

Gettingonabitnow · 15/09/2019 18:16

Me I do! To be honest this is my second (so know what they feel like etc) and only just getting small ones at 25 weeks. X

Sparkle0109 · 15/09/2019 18:27

Thank you so much for all your responses! Soon as I get to the whole feeling things stage I will relax a little, it must be so nice to have the reassurance when being able to feel your baby move, cant wait for it.

Suppose no one relaxes when it comes to being pregnant - who said pregnancy was fun eh ! Xx

Ah but then you worry if they're moving enough, too much, too faint, too sporadically....

It never ends 😂

timonhoudini · 15/09/2019 20:03

Hi there!

I have just turned 27 weeks pregnant and I have a high anterior placenta. I started feeling kicks about a weeks ago and can now feel wiggles when my baby boy moves around Grin ! You will get there, dont worry

Fluffsmum · 15/09/2019 20:26

posterior with DC1 and felt movement at 14 weeks. Anterior placenta with DC2 and felt movement at 16 weeks.

Jent13c · 15/09/2019 20:31

I do with this one. Felt some odd movement quite early but I was working a lot and never felt them unless I was lying flat out in my bed and very low down. Then nothing from about 17-20 weeks maybe a couple of kicks every few days. I was told at 20 week scan about anterior placenta and now at 21 I can feel the baby probably a similar amount to my son with posterior placenta.

TildaTurnip · 15/09/2019 20:32

Very similar to my first. Almost nothing felt the whole time. I was so stressed and had monitoring a LOT. I would see the baby move and do massive kicks on screen and feel nothing.

The placenta was anterior in my second pregnancy too but I did feel a few more movements. No discernible kicks. But could feel the baby moving.

mintich · 15/09/2019 20:35

I did with my first and I didn't even feel the slightest flutter until 22 weeks

meccacos2 · 15/09/2019 20:59

I had an anterior placenta, I felt flutters at around 16 weeks. I’m 22 weeks and now I have kicks. Turns out the placenta moved. It’s no longer where it was originally.

Yellowpolkadot · 16/09/2019 01:20

I had an anterior placenta with dd and didn’t feel anything. She was a ‘lazy baby’ too, as we ended up going in quite regularly for monitoring and even the consultant commented upon how lazy she was. Unfortunately for us that didn’t carry on after she was born and now as a toddler she can’t sit still 😂

Lisalou88 · 16/09/2019 07:29

I have a high anterior placenta, I started feeling flutters at about 21 weeks, kicks at 23 weeks and now at 36 weeks feel movement constantly so I don’t really think it’s affected me feeling movement that much but then it’s my first baby so I have nothing to compare it to x

doublebarrellednurse · 16/09/2019 08:57

Thanks for this thread I'm in the same boat, 17 weeks and not feeling a thing! Very reassuring thread
