Has Aldi stopped doing their own version of the formula?

Obviously not buying yet as still early just starting to look around at different things to get a better idea of cost etc x

No, Aldi still had some when I shopped in there last week.

The cheapest thing is of course to breastfeed, apart from all of the extra cakes you'll want to eat! ;)

FearnRJ · 14/09/2019 22:21

@KellyHall must be the one near us that doesn't have it then it's not a big one and doesn't seem to stock everything. Has nappies and everything else just not formula it seems x

Is it good the Aldi formula? I was thinking about getting some, big store opening near me soon just in time for baby's arrival! I plan to breastfeed but want some formula in just in case, and for combo feeding down the line.

FearnRJ · 14/09/2019 22:32

@leomama81 looking at reviews it's got the same ingredients as Aptamil the only difference is the price tag x

Some Aldi stores have it under a counter, try asking a member of staff before you bother going elsewhere :)

Formula is so heavily regulated in the UK that literally all formula is good. You can’t go wrong. The only thing that stopped me from buying Aldi was we did find the little bottles of pre-made formula that Aptamil, Cow & Gate, SMA do quite handy when out & about for the day with no access to boiling water..

leomama81 · 15/09/2019 01:08

Thanks @FearnRJ!

KT2019 · 15/09/2019 07:17

Bought some yesterday from our local aldi so they still do it. They usually only have one or two on the shelves though and can be hard to find sometimes (when I'm half asleep anyway!).

We combination feed and started on cow & Gate as it's easier to get, but it's absolutely stinking stuff when it's being brought back up and our wee one seemed to do that a lot with it. Switched to aldi and no more sicking it up, less stinky and doesn't froth as much so easier to see the ml in the bottle.

There was a dispatches episode about the rip off of formula with some really interesting info, might still be on iplayer as it was only a month or so ago. This gave me a lot more confidence when trying to choose one to go with!

After doing a lot of looking into different formulas and ingredients I decided to go with the aldi one when I stopped breastfeeding and I would definitely recommend and use again

starflake · 15/09/2019 18:43

@FearnRJ they are stopping it over here so I wonder is it the same over there! Just saw that today in my local Aldi.

@starflake thats not good! People must not be buying it enough Hmm

FearnRJ · 15/09/2019 18:56

Thanks ladies. I'll keep an eye out in other Aldi stores. Or I'll ask the assistant in our local one and see if they have stopped or are stopping selling it.

Don't need it until next year just looking what's out there x

I was definitely going to be using that one, went to buy a tub today & saw that under it. It's a pity they are stopping it.

PotteringAlong · 15/09/2019 19:02

looking at reviews it's got the same ingredients as aptimil

It’s all got the same ingredients - it’s literally The same chemical formula.

Shelby30 · 15/09/2019 19:09

That's a shame I used this for a while with my little girl. I also bought the Aptimal bottles of ready made milk for out and about she had no problems taking either.

I've heard Sainsburys have started doing their own brand of baby formula for about the same price.

mon15 · 15/09/2019 19:31

That's a real shame

FearnRJ · 15/09/2019 19:41

@Shelby30 this one?

Yes it's the same price as the Aldi one and looks like it was selling out around June online and in store x

I wouldn't bother buying any yet, wait and see how feeding goes. It's unlikely there will be a situation that requires infant formula so urgently that you couldn't get some in time.
What could really be beneficial I'd to have some colostrum ready in the freezer before your baby is born. Your midwife will be able to advise and supply some sterile syringes to store it in.

FearnRJ · 15/09/2019 20:24

@Her0utdoors I wasn't buying any yet I'm just looking what's out there
