Tight, painful bump at 32 weeks

Hi everyone
Would love some advice please. I've had a v easy pregnancy so far, despite running around after my almost 2 year old all the time!

But I've woken up this morning and have had bad muscle pain along the bottom of my bump. I'm 32w+ 6. It's gotten worse as the morning has gone on and I'm feeling a bit light headed (and emotional Blush) now too. I'm having a bit to eat and some water too. If I move or walk it just feels really sore. Luckily DS has been happy to sit and watch TV all morning so I've been resting in the sofa.

DP is at work and said to give it an hour and that he'll come home if needs be. The midwife unit is 45 mins away by bus so would be a trek for me to get there with DS by myself.

I guess I don't really know what to do.. I haven't had any other symptoms but just don't feel 'right'. Baby is wriggling away.

Should I call the NHS advice line?
Thanks in advance

If you're worried call the midwives. They will be able to give you advice.
Sorry I can't help but I would call them

MrBobLobLaw · 14/09/2019 11:18

I don't even know which number to call though... I've never had the same midwife and there's so many different numbers on the booklet.
I'm with King's college in London.
Should I call the community midwives centre or midwives house? (Midwives house is where I've had all my appts)

Call any of the numbers you have, someone will be able to point you in the right direction. Hope things are all okay.

Trying93 · 14/09/2019 11:24

@MrBobLobLaw i would phone for advice and try whatever numbers you have.

I don't want to panic you but a colleague of mine had pain at 29 weeks and was just goin to leave it. A friend of hers encouraged her to phone and she ended up giving birth at 29 weeks. Baby is absolutely fine.

It might turn out to be nothing but best to get checked out

Hello,
I am under kings as well, what is your midwife team called?
For example, mine are the sunflower midwives and they have a mobile telephone number that you can phone anytime for advice.

Was you given this? It should be at the front of your notes.
If not then I would call the community midwives centre on Caldecot road. They will be open today.
Failing that I would ring labour ward, they will see you.
I agree with the other posters, give them a ring just to put your mind at ease, I’ve phoned loads during my pregnancy and they have always been lovely and never treated me like I was wasting time.

Hope all is ok!

Sorry for dropping off the thread. Had to wait for DP to finish work but I've been in to the hospital and everything was fine. They scanned baby and his heartbeat was monitored for 30 mins or so.

Still having bad pain below my bump but they don't really know why but didn't seem too worried so that's good.
Going to take some paracetemol when I get home and hopefully that'll ease off the pain a bit.

Now waiting for my taxi surrounded by people smoking right outside the hospital Hmm

Glad to hear everything is okay ❤

Some people are so rude and inconsiderate

Just to say I had this at about the same sort of time in this pregnancy, my midwife believed it was due to the baby spending some time lying horizontally rather than vertically, which was stretching all of the muscles I had left by that point. It was very painful and I was worried, but it settled down again after a couple of days.

MrBobLobLaw · 16/09/2019 20:13

Thanks for posting @katmarie. Baby is deffo head down (been feeling it for a few weeks Blush) and they scanned me and I could see his head was down there.
I think mine was probably round ligament pain but just really severe and long lasting. Sorry that you were suffering too though.

Definitely taking it more easily more now on!
