Induction

If any of you have had to be induced early, what reason was it for? I’m wanting to ask my midwife to consider induce me Monday because of extreme itching (seriously unpleasant and keeping me up all hours) but not sure if it will fall of deaf ears or not

I was induced early for reduced movements last pregnancy, baby stopped growing so better out than in was consultants view

Dorinda how many weeks you are but I know from conversations with my consultant last time and this time they're not keen on induction unless they have a strong reason

I’m getting induced next week and I will be 39 weeks. My consultant offered me an induction or c section as baby is estimated to be big, I do have GD but diet controlled.

I was induced because the baby just wouldn't get out at all I was 42+6 when finally induced she was born at 43+2 I was so tired and just huge I did have bad SPD too and sciatica which they didn't induce for. With my second I was induced because my waters had gone a week before but I didn't realise until I went in for something else and mentioned I'd wet myself and they checked and they'd gone, we both needed antibiotics but was fine he was born 38+5

Stephminx · 14/09/2019 15:20

Had one induced at 36 weeks after my waters went but contractions didn't start.

My second was induced at 39 weeks. I had to beg for this one as my baby was measuring off the scale on all scans. The consultant did keep delaying but I ended up with my induction at 39 weeks and a baby weighing just over 10 lbs.

I believe they don't like to induce without a clinical reason and it's not like a section where they pretty much have to give you one if you demand it,

CmdrCressidaDuck · 14/09/2019 15:25

They won't induce for that. They would only induce "early" (ie before 41+5 where they begin to induce for post dates) if there was reason to think the baby needed to be out - growth issues, GD, obstetric cholestasis, foetal distress, or at 40 weeks for women over 40. Inductions carry risks and aren't done for convenience, and routine late pregnancy discomfort falls under convenience I'm afraid.

OP have you spoke to anyone about the itching!?
If not PLEASE PLEASE CALL NOW to labour ward and explain!

farmmumtomillie · 14/09/2019 15:27

I was induced early for persistent reduced movements and baby not growing appropriately

20viona · 14/09/2019 15:31

Induced due to consistently small baby at 37+4. 2 pessarys 6 hours apart then they broke my waters and she was born 2 hours later. A positive experience

ilovethatshow · 14/09/2019 15:39

I was told by the midwife to ring immediately for really bad itching. Please get checked out op!

FairyDust92 · 14/09/2019 15:50

You could have ICP so you really need to get checked ASAP. Give them a call today they will want to see you! Especially if it's keeping you up.

I was induced at 38 weeks for GD.
