Long haul flight tips

I will soon be taking a long haul flight (~7 hrs) at 27 weeks pregnant (business trip from UK to Canada). I am flying premium economy and have an aisle seat, so will have a reasonable amount of space and will get up and down frequently to move around. Does anyone have any particular tips on how to make the travelling more comfortable at this stage in pregnancy? My midwife doesn't have any concerns re: DVT so I am not planning to wear compression stockings. TIA!

I flew between Riyadh and London 4 times between 25 weeks and 36 weeks. Aside from being kicked inside out by now ds, it was fine. Keep hydrated. Walk about if you need to (I didn't, I slept on in between the ongoing internal assault). There's not much to it really, unless you have had any issues with your pregnancy so far?

Helpful comment award goes to toadabode!

Definitely wear flight socks - even if you don't have any particular risk factors for clots, simply being pregnant puts you at higher risk, especially for long haul.

@peamad just in case I'd still wear flight socks. I'm abroad at the moment on holiday, flight was 11 hours, we are fortunate enough to have booked to turn left but I still wore flight socks as a precaution. Drink lots so as not to get dehydrated, drinking lots will then force you to keep getting up to pee which is good as you'll then move around. I will be doing the same on our return flight which is 12 hours.

Walk, ankle exercises and flight socks. I had such huge ankles after my long haul flight and they took most of the holiday to go down as I fell asleep so didn’t move enough Blush

Why anyone would risk not wearing flight socks is beyond me. But then I've experienced DVT.

If your midwife advised you it's fine not to she's ill informed at best

Thank you to the respondents who weren't unnecessarily rude!

As others have said just keep mobile, hydrated (take your own water bottle and ask them to refill so you don't have to keep asking), have some additional snacks ready and have a little nap if you can.

I'm sure you'll have a lovely flight.

Ive just done 10hs at 23 then 25weeks, and I agree with the tips for snacks and water.

Try and get an aisle seat so your inevitable trips to the loo aren't too disruptive!

On the way back I got asked at check-in and again at the gate how many weeks I was, I assume so they knew I was got to fly (and I'm not even that big!). It might be worth taking your notes in case you need to prove you're OK.
