hi all,

what was your experiences with an anterior placenta? strength/location and frequency vary so much for me day to day I find it really hard to keep a track on movements. midwife did say it was going to be quite a big factor and would definitely mute some movement - not ideal for someone like me who is full of anxiety anyway! x

Become less of an issue as pregnancy progresses as more able to kick other places.

Hopex3 · 07/09/2019 22:13

I do hope so - not quite 28 weeks yet and looking forward to being able to get strong movements every day :( already been in twice for reduced movements x

Movements increased gradually until around 28 weeks and then I could really feel them. I couldn’t tell if it was a foot or hand of anything but I could feel movement in general. I can see my whole belly shift, feel what I now know to be feet in my ribs and feel him and see him stick his bum out. I’m actually glad I have an anterior placenta as he feels quite strong now and I imagine without the extra muscle it could get quite sore

Hopex3 · 07/09/2019 22:40

yeah my movements are really strange- sometimes can feel them really strongly on the outside when she hits my sides but other times it's just thuds low down that I cant feel from the outside. I guess this is where she hits my placenta. ah I'm looking forward to getting a bit further on where its s bit more distinct on a regular basis c

I'm 22+4 and also have an anterior placenta. I started to feel flutters around 10 days ago and then slightly stronger kicks at the side occasionally but, as others have said, my movements do fluctuate a bit. I felt nothing yesterday until the evening but this morning I am getting a few more. I nearly called the midwife yesterday but 22 weeks seems a little early for an established pattern. I also can't wait for things to get a bit more obvious and frequent!

Amanduh · 08/09/2019 16:44

I felt them occasionally, would always feel them a but most days but nothing very strong. Strength and frequency varied a lot because obviously everything was so cushioned! I could always feel him iyswim but never had the huge rolling feet jabbing out movements.

Hopex3 · 08/09/2019 17:05

yeah shes very active in the morning but after that I only feel light little pops/jabs very low down. maybe shes starting to get into her routine - who knows! I guess as long as i feel her atleast at some point itll keep my mind at ease to a certain degree though I always worry! :( x

I'm over 31 weeks now and they do get a bit stronger as time goes on - I do still have times where I feel a bit nervy and have had to go on the monitor a few times but yeah they do generally get a bit easier to feel so hang in there I'm sure you'll start feeling stuff soon x

I'm 39 weeks and agree with what others have already said, it does get easier the further along you go. However the worry was and is still there. I did go in at around 34 weeks as the movements felt muted and the machine did pick up on a lot more movement than I could feel! This did reassure me. Try not to worry baby will get stronger and get into a routine which will help, dont worry that you have already been in twice they would rather you went in :)

sadtoday21 · 04/10/2019 00:08

I have an anterior placenta and haven't felt any pops or flutters yet at 17 weeks. Is this normal? When did you feel pops for the first time with anterior placenta?

Mintypea5 · 04/10/2019 01:46

@sadtoday21 with DS2 not until 21/22 weeks. Struggles with movement feeling while Pregnancy. Placenta was massive right across my front so cushioned everything

18ish weeks with this baby but placenta is on my right and high so not quite as obstructive.

Cornishmumofone · 04/10/2019 02:15

I had an anterior placenta and can't say I ever really felt my baby move 😞

Sparkle0109 · 04/10/2019 07:38

I'm 21 weeks and have an anterior placenta. Dont know for sure if I have felt him yet there been one or two times where I have thought 'was that it??'
I have a friend who never felt her DD the whole way through and had to go listen to heartbeat weekly. I hope that isnt me I am already a ball of anxiety!

VisionsofJohanna · 04/10/2019 12:20

Same as @cornishmumofone - didn’t really ever feel anything specific, certainly nothing I could make a pattern from. Was worrying at the time but DS born happy and healthy

PEkithelp · 04/10/2019 12:23

I didn’t feel kicks until later in my pregnancy and they were definitely more start, stop depending on position. Probably didn’t get regular movements until 32plus weeks. I found it quite an anxious time as wasn’t getting the feedback that LO was okay.

PEkithelp · 04/10/2019 12:23

I should say baby was born healthy.
Very different to other pregnancies.

Weathergirl1 · 04/10/2019 13:58

Anterior placenta here (was quite low at 20 week scan but I'm fairly sure it's moved up now as we can see the pulse from it in the middle of my bump if I lay on my back!). I get twitchy movements but mostly really low down, and occasionally towards the sides higher up. Foetus is apparently head down at the moment at 32 weeks. Only really notice movement when I lay down to go to sleep or sometimes sit down still for a bit.

Weathergirl1 · 04/10/2019 14:30

Oh and in hindsight, did feel the odd flutter at about 20 weeks, but didn't realise it wasn't just my guts moving until nearer 24/25 weeks.
