Hopping over from TTC boards for some advice

I really hope someone from the conception boards can shed some light on this topic for me but I'm really interested to know if anyone who has had premenstrual spotting had trouble conceiving?
I am on cycle #5 day 1 (yup the witch arrived again today) and I have had browny pink spotting for many years now around 4-5 days before my period. I've had the day 21 bloods and the day 3 bloods and apparently they were all normal, maybe they were but I'm not convinced. I've had no further testing so far.
I would love to hear anyone experience with this good or bad I'm worried it's a major reason we're not successful this far.
OH(other half)I should say, I'm definitely ovulating, I've been temping and using opks and have a regular 28 ish day period.
Please any advice would be soooo appreciated.

How long have you been Ttc?

Stilltobeseen · 07/09/2019 12:10

5 months now @janey15 I know it's still within perfectly normal time for a young healthy couple but I'm just curious in the off chance we reach a year and it's been this all along.

You say your results were normal. A. Why are you having tests 5 months (presumably the tests were during cycle 4?) in to ttc? B. What about the results hasn't 'convinced' you? What do you need convincing about?

What were your results? Are you aware about the stats for each cycle? Length of time ttc, etc?

Stilltobeseen · 07/09/2019 13:01

I had tests done because I wanted to make sure my spotting (starts usually at 11dpo and continues up until the day my period starts) wouldn't impact implantation so for peace of mind I went to my doctor and she suggested having my bloods done.
It's not that I don't believe the results I'm just still unsure whether spotting for this long before full flow will affect my chances or not is all. So I was just hoping people with the same thing could maybe shed some light on their own experience.

@Stilltobeseen Ttc can be worrying at any length of time when it's just not working although I don't think you need to worry yet (easier said than done). Have you been tracking ovulation so you know your timing is right? Some people use ovulation sticks but I found temping easier.
Unfortunately in my experience drs and fertility specialists aren't really interested in things like spotting/weird periods etc if they know you are ovulating. Also over time things like early spotting can change so what is normal for you now might be completely different in a years time.
You probably know this but after 1 yr your gp can refer you for further tests but if they come back normal you won't be seen by a fertility specialist until 2 yrs if you are under 35. This seems like ages but it's because most couples will conceive in a year and the vast majority of those that don't will conceive by two years.
I do really sympathise- we took 4.5 years and I won't relax until I have my baby in my arms.
Good luck xxx

@Stilltobeseen in response to your other post: I don't think spotting from 11 dpo is that early. My luteal phase was always 12 or 13 days with a couple of days of spotting then a very light short period. I bought it up with the consultant a few times and he was not interested x

Greenwhale · 07/09/2019 13:22

@Stilltobeseen Just a bit of positive baby dust vibes for you.
I have had generally 22-25 day cycles with an average luteal phase between 9-11 days. I'd usual spot for approx 2-3 days at the end of that luteal phase so dependant on whether you class spotting as day 1 of AF, I suppose my luteal phase could even be classed as 7-9 days.
I was very worried my LP was so short and about the spotting during this time too but magically I am now almost 7 weeks pregnant. Even before my BFP I had spotting at dpo 8,9 so automatically assumed I was out as this was classical pre-AF for me.
So don't worry too much! It can still happen! Fx for you

Thank you so much for the positive messages. I really appreciate hearing your stories, it makes me feel so much better and not alone. I'm the only one of my friends with spotting so it's nice to hear the success stories.
Huge congratulation to you @greenwhale what fab news! Best of luck to you through your pregnancy 😁

@Greenwhale fertility clinics count day 1 as first day of full flow. My clinic only count it if it starts before 1pm. If after 1pm day 1 is the following day. I guess it helps to standardise things.
Congratulations xxx

i understand your worry at any stage of ttc, it can be stressful

spotting can be normal but just one thing to think about - it also can be a sign that your progesterone is dropping quickly (even if its normal in the blood tests on day 21 - it may not be sustained)

a good idea might be to start temping and see what your progesterone level is. if it seems to be dropping, there are lots of natural things you can try over the next few months to help. b vitamin complexes are useful, as are certain foods and avoiding alcohol, caffeine etc, and some people recommend reflexology. none of these are guaranteed obviously, but it may be helpful. (I'm doing it!)

Stilltobeseen · 07/09/2019 14:15

I started temping two months ago and my temp seems to stay above the cover line until af arrives so I'm taking that's a good thing. I've also started taking maca root and b complex etc so hopefully they will make a difference. Honestly I'll try just about anything to increase my chances Grin

Earlier this year I read the book 'it starts with the egg' and that has lots of ideas for supplements etc although I only implemented some of the suggestions as it can all get a bit much xx

Stilltobeseen · 07/09/2019 16:08

Thank you @janey15 I'll add it to my list. I've read taking charge of your fertility which was really good as well.

What my post was meant to do was make you realise that the pressure and stress you're putting on yourself isn't helpful. If you won't except medical advice (and you shouldn't listen to anxiety at this point), then what will reassure you?

Honestly, ttc is the absolute worst. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong at this stage. Fewer than 50% of people become pregnant in the first four months of ttc. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean there's anything wrong or that it won't happen.

Be kinder to yourself.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 07/09/2019 21:14

I had this. My tests were all normal too. Went to see a Chinese doctor who recommended Agnus Castes (not sore about the spelling of that!) to lengthen my cycles. That stoped the brown spotting and the nextnmonth I feel pregnant.
