Did you regret your elective section / having the baby turned

I'm 37 weeks and breech, I've just been to the hospital for a scan to confirm and they offered me a C or to try and turn him, I've booked in for the turn next week I will be 37+5 when they attempt it.
Since getting home I've read up about success rates being only 50% and if they do turn him there is a 50% he will turn back and I will have to go back a week later to have another scan to see if this has happened and I could end up having a C anyway.
I'm unsure if I want to go through the turning and extra faff to end up having a C anyway but I know the C is also not a walk in the park.

What have been your experiences?

I declined due to risk to the baby - I have history of recurrent miscarriages and didn't want to put baby at any additional risk

That being said having a c section caused scar tissue which has ultimately caused me to have two ruptured ectopics and am now infertile as both tubes removed - I'm obviously an extreme case

Hi, I have had two emergency c sections, I was absolutely fine after, a bit sore of course but I was out of bed the next day walking around. The hospital staff was amazing and was chatting all the way through and singing to the music on the radio in theatre! It takes around 2 weeks to feel fully back to normal (it can take longer or shorter, just depends). Is there anything in particular that worries you about a c section?

I also had a pretty positive experience with a c-section. I've had a total of 15 operations, including my emergency section. Most of my surgeries were endoscopic and one was laproscopic, so the c-section was actually one of the most major - but despite that, it was one of easiest to recover from. Not much pain, I was home within 48 hours, had regained full movement after another 24 hours and by day 5, I was comfortably walking half a mile each way into town. I'm 29 weeks with my second pregnancy now and going for an elective c-section this time.

DD was transverse (sideways); I had ECV which was initially successful, but she turned back that evening - anecdotal evidence is that success rates (in terms of the turn being permanent) are even lower for transverse babies. The c-section wasn't fun, but was very calm and my recovery was better than friends who had an EMCS. In the (hypothetical) situation I was pregnant again, I'd go straight for ELCS.

I'm another one who had a very easy recovery from my elective c section (3 weeks ago today). I was walking around the ward the same day, had a shower the next morning and was home just over 24 hours after the section. I was pain free within a few days and the only time I even notice it now is when my wriggly baby decides to kick me in the stomach as he sleeps on my chest.

I had an ecv at 37+5, I was told my chance of success was even lower due to high bmi but it worked! I was also told the grace of turning back was about 5% but she stayed put and I was eventually induced at 41+3. I was really glad I tried the ecv as I was massively against having a c-section and felt that even if it hadn't worked it would have been worth a few minutes of discomfort trying!

loutypips · 06/09/2019 23:22

The ECV isn't great, and it didn't work for me.
I ended up having a caesarean and it was actually a lovely calm experience. The recovery was much easier than other ops I've had, despite it being more major. I was in far more pain after having my gallbladder removed!
The only pain is not being able to drive after. Tbh the staying home and having people come to me was much easier and I had an excuse for staying and cuddling dd!

I would never ever agree to let them try to turn...too many awful stories

I had an ECV with my third. It worked, She was born safely at home, but I wish I’d gone for the c section. It was a difficult birth, she was big and badly positioned and I had significant tears.
