Induction

I'm due to be induced at 39 weeks with first baby due to recurrent RFM and history of losses. Would love some advice from anyone who has been through induction as most things I've read/watched have been horror stories. Anything to make the process less stressful and hopefully more successful.

Hi,
I have had two inductions and two very different experiences. Induction 1 was at 39 weeks. I had a pessary and went into labour a few hours later. My wee girl was born within 20 hours of starting the process.
Induction 2 was at 37 weeks. I was "induced on the Friday and had her on the Sunday night. This induction included pessary, gels and the drip! I was under constant care of midwives so had no concerns on that front. I can't comment on pain vs non-induce labour as I have not experienced. Also, both my girls were back-to-back so again, my experience may be different.
I suppose my point is that everyone's experience will be different. My second induction was tougher than my first, but, i survived :) Try not to read too much and focus on yourself. Ask questions throughout so you are completely informed of the process and how you're doing (this helps me). In your case (as was mine), induction has been assessed as being the safest method to deliver a healthy baby x

I've being induced 3 times! Never had a natural labour. Had the pressary & drips 3 times. First & last were not the most pleasant but extra factors were at play, on dd2 from time of Induction to birth was about 4 hours! Easiest labour ever. Every experience is different so really don't get too hung up on the horror stories

I had an induction at 39 weeks. Pessarys worked enough to soften my cervix, they then broke my waters and had a natural birth 7 and a half hours later. They wanted to put me on the drip, they didn't think I was progressing. I asked to be examined first which they did and turned out I was progressing as was 6cm dilated already. So listen to your own baby and don't be scared to let them know what you want. One tipis to not expect it to work quickly, the pessaries are given hours apart and you can be in the hospital for a couple of days before anything happens. Take tablet to watch Netflix or books to keep you busy.

I had a lovely induction really compared to some stories I have read, I feel very lucky and wouldn't be worried if I had to do it again. Good luck

Listen to your own body that should say !

I was induced at 38 weeks due to GD, had the pessary put in at 10am, water broken around 9.30 PM she was born at 4.03AM.

It was horrific but its labour I don't think many women walk out of it saying it was a walk in the park! It can't of been to bad though because my fear of epidurals/C-sections made me only use gas and air xx

Only advice I would give is refuse the hormone drip unless it is 100% necessary as they seem to be using it a lot more these days xx

I've had two very positive inductions.

Induction for DS1 was at 42 weeks. Once pessary was in things got started quite quickly. But slowed down again a bit so was put on the drips. I had an epidural because the pain was too intense for me but by the time came to push I felt rested and relaxed. Baby arrived with no issues and not tearing or damage to me!

DS2 inducted at 38 weeks due to RFM. Slightly longer to get started because my body wasn't as ready but once they broke my waters things moved quite fast. Again had an epidural but things moved so fast it didn't fully take! Was fine tho just needed some gas and air to help me out. Baby arrived are 6 mins of pushing again no damage to me

Mine was quite positive. Induced at 37 weeks due to small baby. Pessary at 5am
Nothing happened, pessary at 1pm slight tightenings from 6pm onwards, 9pm waters broken and baby was born at 11.50pm!
It was fast furious and painful once the waters were gone but overall I think it was positive.
