hi all,

know this is going to sound silly but does all 'movement' count? sometimes I feel really quite strong movement I can feel outside but other times its almost like little rumbles or flutters really low down. do these also count towards movements? midwife is no help - always says if you're worried ring up. but I just wanna know if EVERY movement counts if you get what i mean?

thanks all x

I class every movement counts even flutters. How many weeks are u? If u feel that your baby hasnt moved drink cold water and lay on your left side & count how many movements in a hour. Im now 31wks and my baby moves all the time but the odd time im worried i do this & she does move for me.

I was thinking that as I have felt the flutters all morning and have had one or two distinctive movements so I'm not too concerned atm but I am a worrier by nature - its not as bad when I'm at home but as I work full time when I'm at work I find it harder to concentrate. I've had friends say not to get too obsessive with it, just to be aware sort of thing. I'm 27 weeks now and have an anterior placenta which means I often only feel her movements around the sides and bottom - shes breech so very rarely feel movement at the top x

Flutters do count as movement but the nature of the movements should stay the same. So for example if one day you are only getting little flutters when you would normally have strong kicks, you should still get checked out. But if little flutters is normal for you then you don't need to worry

it's a tricky one cos I haven't really established a routine yet so as such dont know exactly what normal will be so I guess will just have to monitor it and see how it goes x

also to add onto this - I have my 28 week midwife appointment today. she will listen in to heartbeat anyway but would she do anything further if I said I was having a really hard time with movements and they'd changed? I've already had to to hospital twice for reduced movement and although I feel her I'm really not happy with the change in it. will they do a scan or anything? feeling really quite stressed out x

I count everything and have done from early on, not just kicks (I don’t really get any sharp kicks anyway and never have done)
I’m 35 weeks and even if baby wriggles slightly I count that as a movement
