Is this normal? I don't remember feeling so so weak with dc1. I have no energy. Even walking is an effort, I feel like I am wearing lead weights in my legs. I wake up feeling so so weak in the morning, almost dizzy. Really struggling keeping up with almost 2yo and back to work tomorrow Sad

I had this around 16 - 17 weeks and really could barely get around the house. Turned out my blood sugar was low. I had to make sure I ate something with carbs in every hour and a half and it did really help especially after a few days - still felt tired but not so ridiculously exhausted as before. I ate a lot of granola and dried fruit. Might be worth a try for you?

P.s. if you're dizzy too it's worth considering it may be low blood pressure too so make sure you drink loads!

Imnotaslimjim · 03/09/2019 10:03

Could be low blood pressure or low iron. I was similar and my iron was just over 9. A couple of weeks on spatone and I started perking up. Can you pop to the GP and get checked over? Pregnancy is tiring but you shouldn't be permanently wiped out.

I felt like this with my first until about this time. The placenta should have taken over by now so in theory the tiredness should start to settle down. Definitely talk to your MW or GP though as they may want to do some blood tests.

I have an appointment now this morning. I can't carry on like this for sure. I hope its something simple like low iron. I don't fancy this for another 20 weeks

Well Dr couldn't find anything outright so has booked blood test for later in the week. Thanks all

@Rubberyduck I felt awful around that time this pregnancy. Like knackered can't carry on tired. I think we under estimate how hard it is being pregnant (which is already exhausting) plus if you're working / have a small one already! I have a 7 yr old and 14 month old plus full time job. This pregnancy is far more exhausting than my previous two.

snowflakeeel · 03/09/2019 19:03

Oh, I feel for you. I was the same around 20 weeks. Arms and legs felt like lead, I felt breathless all the time, I couldn't even read a book to my toddler without stopping for a break. Went to the GP who did a blood test and I had very low iron levels. Been on iron tablets for 3 weeks now and I feel so much better. I hope they find something as simple as that and get it sorted for you. Hope you feel better soon X

Sounds very much like low iron. I remember the dead weight feeling & dizziness well, I was pretty anaemic by that point. Anaemia can make you feel really quite poorly! Do you get heart palpitations or a feeling your heart is racing at all?

A few weeks on iron tablets sorted me out!

Borderterrierpuppy · 03/09/2019 20:28

Sounds like anaemia, even mild anaemia can make you feel knackered.

Tini17 · 03/09/2019 20:35

Sounds like low iron OP as PPs have said, can make you feel like you’re describing. Hopefully your bloods will come back quickly.
Are you taking any pregnancy supplements?
Spatone is good and without the side effects of iron tablets, may be worth getting a box?
Feel better soon x
