How healthy is your diet during pregnancy?

I found out I’m five weeks pregnant over the weekend. My diet has never been particularly healthy - my BMI is fine but I don’t eat anywhere near enough greens, I drink too much (I’ve obviously cut that out completely now!) and eat a lot of red meat and fatty foods.

How important is it to make big changes to your diet during pregnancy? Today I swapped my usual croissant for Weetabix, and had a huge salad for lunch instead of the usual sausage/bacon sandwich.

I am having a cheese and tomato pizza for dinner though!

Mines was very healthy until the nausea/sickness kicked in. I always ate fresh pre pregnancy.

Nausea has subsided but my eating habits are now all over the place. I'm rarely hungry. Bran flakes and fruit make up the majority, the rest is what I can manage. Recently I have wanted more sweet foods (cakes etc) which I've been repulsed by for the majority of my pregnancy.

I think in pregnancy sometimes the choice is taken away from you. I've definitely not been eating as planned or even how I started off.

I have been terrible and it really upsets me sometimes. I tried the vitamins but they made me throw up. I'm now getting about 3 of my 5 a day which is pretty good for me! Also have quite a bit of calcium and protein. Hoping that this overrides the weekly McDonald's and daily chocolate etc Shock

I've had HG since wk5 (now 37+2!) and so my pregnancy diet consisted of what I could keep down or was the least horrendous coming back up! So in the grand scheme of 'pregnancy nutrition' my diet was horrific, but baby's healthy and has been throughout (just me that's not been ok!) and I've been told my various drs/consultants etc throughout the pregnancy, that as long as you can keep down some fluids then baby will take what they need! So I would beat yourself up! Have the puddings and cheeseburgers, just maybe not every day!🙈
