Our DD is just about to turn 1 in the next few weeks. Before she was born, we said that we would like an age gap between baby number 1 and baby number 2 of about 2 years. We said we will start trying just after Christmas HOWEVER. I started a new job in July as part time office staff. Do you think it is too soon to get pregnant? My boss is lovely but I still can't help but worry about this. Will this affect my job/maternity/etc? How does maternity leave work when you are part time staff, is there much difference to full time staff in terms of how long you can be off for, etc.? Thanks all!

You need to check your policies. You usually have to be with an organisation for 26 weeks before they pay maternity but some offer enhanced after a period of time. The organisation I work for has a much better maternity package if you have been there a year when you take it and my previous job it increased at 3 years and again at 5 depending on role you were in

@EscapeTheOrdinary I just checked my contract. Funny enough, it does not mention anything about maternity. Hmm

Your contract probably won’t but the company policies will. Have you got a hr department you can speak to or is it a small company?
