Should I call my midwife?

Yesterday I drank protein water for the first time (it has whey protein in it). It smelled a bit "off" at the time and I recoiled from it, but I thought I just wasn't used to it, and if it has whey in it, of course it's going to smell a bit funny. I also had a chicken sandwich from our staff canteen for lunch.

About eight hours later, I had overwhelming stomach cramps and had to rush to the loo. I had a single bout of bad diarrhoea, and nothing since - fine overnight, feel fine today too.

But my paranoid little brain has started working overtime. Was that good poisoning? Should I call my midwife? Or am I just being stupid?

I'm 23 weeks with my first baby and it's been a fairly normal pregnancy so far.

If your worried then i would just phone for advice. It doesnt sound like it was anything u ate or drank as u would be really ill.
Your not being stupid, its a worry when pregnant but do phone for advice.

If you’ve only had a single bout then no I would call Midwife.
I’ve had loads of bouts over course of pregnancy ( 33 weeks) , your body reacts differently to different foods than it did before.
I would only call midwife/ go if I literally couldn’t keep anything down for few days.

If you're fine now what do you want them to do for you? Plenty of fluids, and just continue to be careful with what you eat.

That’s to say “ wouldn’t “ call not would!

I wouldn’t call - if it was food poisoning you’d have had more than one bout of diarrhoea. As it is it’s one loose bowel movement which isn’t anything to worry about . As others have said, just make sure you’re hydrated

That's reassuring - thanks everyone, I was just worried about the possibility of listeria or one of the other harmful ones. I won't bother my midwife over it!
