Hi,

I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant and went for a 30-45 min drive yesterday, but the road I was on was quite bumpy, so I’m just thinking if the baby is okay?

If anyone has had similar experiences or even been running etc during pregnancy and been okay then I’d find it very helpful if you could share.

I drive a modified, lowered car so the ride is constantly bumpy and I'm not worried. Unless you're going green laning every day I'm sure baby will be fine Smile

I cycle, bumpy at times. Baby will be fine. They are cushioned. X

The is inside a water filled sac inside you, this is specifically designed to absorb shocks like this and keep your baby safe. It would take a tremendous bang to cause damage.

Turn this on it’s head. How many people drive cars? Have you ever heard of anyone having a baby with a problem caused by being a passenger or driving in a car? What are the chances of you being the first?

The strength of the muscles around the uterus will protect baby just fine, don't worry. Xx

Many people run throughout pregnancy (not me, my tits are too sore, but I've definitely seen it).

I raced a single seater Formula Ford around a race track when I was 15 weeks pregnant, I was fine as was baby! You'll be just fine x

I went running this morning at 40 weeks pregnant. With my first I ran to 28 weeks and rode a horse until 37 weeks. Driving is not an issue. It can be slightly uncomfortable going over speed bumps once baby drops and probably when you're in labour (I wouldn't know I was induced last time) but isn't harmful.
Once you have a bump you need to wear your seatbelt between your boobs and under rather than across your bump, and if you're in an accident you should get checked out, but assuming we're talking about normal driving here you're fine.

I ran a marathon at 12 weeks & baba is absolutely fine. I ran up until 22 weeks and would have run further but I went on holiday and struggled to get back to it after

I drive 100-150 miles a day for work and worked until I was 35 weeks so I think you’ll be fine! Ditto what PP said, make sure seat belt sits under your bump.

Awww thanks everyone, really appreciate it. It wasn’t so much the actual driving I was worried about but just the fact that I was in a quite bumpy countryside road for a continuous 45 mins which had a few pot holes etc. But glad to know there’s nothing to worry about! Thanks you all once again, your comments are reassuring.
