Hello ladies,

Looking for reassurance. I'm still really struggling with extreme nausea all day and all night. I waited patiently for it to stop- but I'm losing hope ?

Will it ever stop ? Anyone else had this issue for this long ?

I've taken to make myself sick once or twice a day just for some relief and it helps a little. Still keeping plenty of food down, so that's fine. Nothing else helps. Tried all meds from the GP, nothing has helped.

I still can't work and feel terrible about it.

😔

I escaped early sickness and suffered really bad around 22/23 weeks. It was acid reflux and since I’ve started taken Omeprazole I’ve been fine. Have you tried that?

Pinkflipflop85 · 29/08/2019 20:26

Still sick at 33 weeks....not sure that's very helpful for you to hear though! Confused

UpsyIggleDaisyPiggle · 29/08/2019 20:28

Yes - I was nauseous from 6 to 22 weeks. I was off work for ages.

Framlingham2 · 29/08/2019 20:57

@bobble53 yeah so the doctor suggested it might be reflux too. As he said it should have stopped if it was hormone related. So he said to try gaviscon and prescribed the drug you mentioned. I have it, but haven't got the guts to take it yet. Now that you've said this, I'm going to try tomorrow. So did you actually have any other symptoms of stomach acid like that burning sensation ? Or indigestion ? I don't have that at all, I just have nausea. Thanks so much though for your reply.

@Pinkflipflop85 I feel for you, that must be terrible and I feel at this stage that this is probably going to be me too ☹️ are you having a girl too ? First pregnancy ? I hope you somehow manage / feel better soon.

@UpsyIggleDaisyPiggle I'm glad it stopped for you and I really feel for you. Being off work makes me feel so useless I hate it. But my job is quite stressful and high pressure and I just know I won't be doing a good job even if I go back. It's really hard to think straight when you're constantly at the point of vomiting. I really, really feel for chemo patients now, more than before. Persistent nausea is soul destroying.

Second pregnancy. No idea about the sex of the baby.

Bambamber · 30/08/2019 07:14

I had this and mine was caused by severe acid reflux too. Omeprazole has been an absolute game changer

Framlingham2 · 30/08/2019 07:35

@Bambamber really ?? Did you have any other reflux symptoms ? So I've just braved it and taken my first tablet. Here is literally to hoping and praying this will work. May I ask how long you had to take those for ? And was baby ok ? Any side effects for you etc ? Thanks so much for your kind replies- if this works I have you and the @bobble53 to thank! I'll let you know.

@Bambamber sorry to ask so many questions, but did it help straight away ? As in after the first tablet or did you need to take it for a few days before you had relief?

I was just getting a lot of pain in the right side of my abdomen and the severe nausea which was worse after eating. Then one day the nausea got so bad I just started vomiting profusely and didn't eat anything for 3 days so my GP sent me to hospital as they were worried it was something underlying causing it. Turns out it was just gastritis causing acid reflux. I started the omeprazole about 6 weeks ago now and I'm now 29 weeks. Baby is doing well no concerns, and no side effects from the tablets either. I've tried to stop taking them but within 24 hours it gets bad again so I will stay on them for the rest of the pregnancy now. There are certain foods that do make it worse, but even avoiding those foods it still can't be controlled without the meds. I do have a long history of gastritis so that's why they think it's hit me so hard

Bambamber · 30/08/2019 07:45

And I noticed a difference within 24 hours of taking the first tablet. It's best to try take the tablet half hour before eating anything

Framlingham2 · 30/08/2019 07:49

@Bambamber I'm so happy for you that you feel better ! Your GP sounds great for taking it seriously and sending you to get checked out properly. So now when you're on the tablets you don't feel sick anymore at all ?

Mine is also massively terrible after eating. It's so so bad that I don't want to eat, but then I also get terrible nausea when my stomach is too empty. So it's a lose lose situation. Occasionally not eating helps though.

The GP said to me that it really can be the reflux causing that kind of nausea, as the classic pregnancy nausea shouldn't really continue until this point usually. I've taken my first one ! Fingers crossed this is going to help me. I am crying all the time, I just feel so depressed and can't enjoy life anymore and it's been around 4 months of feeling like this. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Generally no, I sometimes get a little nauseous if I have a meal that's particularly fatty but otherwise I have practically no nausea at all.

Good luck I hope it helps you as much as it helped me!

Framlingham2 · 30/08/2019 09:02

@Bambamber really happy for you! Hope I have the same outcome lol 😂

24 weeks here and still feeling sick. More manageable now though. Better than the early days when I was being sick around 20 times a day

Framlingham2 · 30/08/2019 12:29

@Bambamber so it took 24 hours for nausea to go away after you took your first tablet, right ? I took one this morning and it hasn't helped so far. I thought it was helping- then I ate and I'm back to the usual feeling of desperately wanting to make myself sick- which I won't do today, as I want the tablet to work.
